Really cool idea! I had fun playing it! Great job!

Cool idea! I like the different kinds of blocks, spwaners and repulsers are both good. There's a bunch of stuff you could do with that if you took it forward. The random blocks add a good amount of challenge, but it could be good to have some cost associated with placing a block or have higher cooldowns after better blocks. As it is, I beat hard by just putting a couple of block spawners on the back few rows and then just spamming blocks in front of them whenever they were off cooldown. Very much enjoyed it though, nicely done!

Well done. A lot of games in the jam attempted enemy or obstacle placement systems to reverse common game types.

This is the cleanest implementation of that idea I've seen so far.

Good job!

Great concept.

It's hard to keep tracking where is the best place to put every block, but after a while I realize some strategies.

Congrats for the solid entry! =)

A very simple concept neatly done and developed. I enjoyed every second of it, quite a challenge at the beginning but very fun and engaging. I didn't want to stop playing, even though the mechanics are simple I really enjoyed coming up with a strategy to win. Nice twist!

This was a fun one! The random blocks does make strategizing feel a bit haphazard at first, but I think it ultimately works well enough once the player learns to pay attention to the up next indicator.

Very cool idea and much fun

Thank you!

Interesting idea! :) I think the randomness sometimes takes away from any solid strategies you may have, but overall great idea!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yes you're right it is tricky to find a strategy that sticks, next time we will find a better balance :)

I like the overall idea and the variety of blocks. Trying out different tactics is fun, especially with wall blocks and spawners which you're trying to protect.

The tempo can sometimes feel overwhelming and I find it difficult to balance making decisions VS just spamming blocks as fast as possible. Maybe it'd feel more manageable if there were more kinds of builder blocks, providing fodder.

Thanks for playing!

Great suggestion!

Great idea and good execution, although it felt somewhat random at times, but I managed to think of some strategies to fight that randomness.

Developer

Thanks for playing, pleased to hear you were able to find some strategies that worked

Nice take on breakout. I liked the variety of tiles. The AI player did a good job, but wasn't the best breakout player. :)

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'm glad that the AI was a challenge but not perfect

Submitted(+1)

Clever idea.  I liked it more once I decided I didn't want to wait for the timer to finish and started actively working to make the AI player lose balls.

Thanks for playing!

Very clever idea, ended up feeling a bit dull in the end.

Maybe add more levels and make the AI less ... infalliable?

Thanks for playing! Did you manage to try the medium/hard settings? You can change it by clicking the button under "play"

Was fun, but last minute was quite boring)
Can't understand - why does player need ball platform?

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thanks for playing! The player doesn't want the ball spawn block, the idea was to have a block you had to protect.

Submitted

Yes, but player can simply click on it with another block and replace it

Developer

Balancing a game is hard but we are trying our best :)

The ball spawning blocks that are present by default on the medium/hard modes are not replaceable, but the ones placed by the player are. We will continue to get better at balancing our games in the future and thank you for the feedback :)
