When the message came up telling me I was going to de-level, I knew it was going to be good. A clever twist.

I also liked the gameplay loop and the graphics and sounds used were well chosen. I don't have any feedback, really, other than this was fun and it's a great game. Well done!

It's the game I had the most fun playing so far! It's really cool, well done!

Where is the king?! :D
it was funny game, well done!

Super polished little game. I wasn't convinced on the "role reversal" at first but the "power reversal" is a cute twist. Serious Gungeon vibes on this one.

I'd appreciate it if you check out my game too if you have a minute!

Nice challenge and unique design choices!

I had a lot of fun with this one. Deciding which type of advantages I want subtractively rather than additively made each choice feel much more impactful! I really felt it when I took my damage stat down

Nice twist! I thought it was going to be a "you are the villain" reversed role but...nope! You level down instead of leveling up! :P lol :D

Developer

Thanks! I wanted to lean more into the 'you are the villain' aspect beyond story but ran out of time. Maybe something I'd expand on more in the post-jam version

loved it - well done - amazing implementation even if you used existing art and sounds.

Developer

Thanks! The art is all based off the Kenny 1-bit pack that was highly modified by me. The sound is all stock / pre-purchased!

It was an enjoyable and entertaining experience, and the music was great. However, I felt that even without my abilities, I still felt too powerful. good game!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I'm considering adding a new game plus feature to make it harder for when the jam is done. I'd rather have a jam game that's too easy and that people can finish / enjoy instead of one where it's too frustrating to get into!

I really enjoyed this game. The art is great. Sound effects are great. Thanks for a fun game!

Was a fun little romp, and I loved the music. It's a shame that I felt too powerful even with all my abilities gone, I would love to play a rebalanced version of this where it is more of a challenge. Good work!

I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback!

The game was originally a lot harder (about twice the enemy count in each level). I'll play around with a  "New Game +" mode for the post-jam version.

Thank you so much for the suggestion!

I loved it! i like the challenging yet satisfying gameplay

Just as an idea: I think giving it loot to counter the stats down is a good idea but also sounds pretty plain. I would maybe think about special equipment that changes how you play a little.

Example: you could find ice boots that makes you very fast to counter speed, but you slip constantly

I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback!

I originally planned for the player to be able to find loot, crossbow, melee weapons, etc. I just ran out of time, I'll see if I can add some loot into the post-jam version.

Thank you so much for suggestion!

This is really great. Insanely polished, plays great, looks and sounds great. The "leveling down" mechanic is definitely really interesting, but it does feel kinda painful every time you do. The great, adrenaline filled feeling of leveling up in most games is completely reversed in this game. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I feel like maybe having some small increase in one stat as a reward for your sacrifice would make it feel at least a little better. Really great game though!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I wanted to reverse the hero's journey so instead of a hero starting weak and achieving great things you start powerful then end up weak and achieving not great things.

You're right, I think I have a really interesting idea but it is missing something. I might play around with a loot reward system for a post jam version.

Thanks for the great feedback!

Very nice concept! I like the idea of downgrading after each level instead of powering up your main character. The gameplay was good, and nice cliffhanger at the end :) Looking forward to the next game. "At the ashes" it was?

Good luck!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This is a prequel to another game I made called "From the Ashes", I've been trying to link all of my projects into a shared universe of games since 2021!
