Really nice game! If you're planning on improving the game would love to see some levels with some larger, non-single tile blocks :)
Oh! I haven't heard that suggestion yet! great idea!
What a fun little game! It's sufficiently challenging, the audio is responsive, and it really leans into the premise of roles-reversed!
Thank you! Yeah the first premise we had was a walrus jumping through the maze on a pogo stick XD. This was much more on-theme!
What an enjoyable little game! The art is clean and straightforward, and the music fits it like a glove! I would like it to be a little bit easier, at least at first, but even as it is, I really enjoyed playing and trying to figure out how to win!
I totally agree. Just a few points less on the first level at least. It turned out surprisingly okay for how little it was tested.
Thanks for playing!
Love it!
I love the concept of changing the rats place with the scientists, and love the gameplay!
I only would like a restart button for when im sure ive screwed up haha
Thanks for the feedback and for playing the game! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This game is really good! (even played it to completion :) ) The levels were tricky at times and I definitely had to rack my brain to solve them which made the gameplay fun. I loved the game, but I do have a few minor and nitpicky criticisms:
1. Showing the points required to finish a level at the start would be great!
2. Having the time translate into a predictable number was be something that I wished for when playing the game. For example, 15 seconds could translate into 150 points. This way players can do a rough calculation of how much time they need to pass the level.
3. As others have mentioned, instant restarts would be convenient, but you already planned to implement that : )
Absolutely fantastic game and I wish that there were more levels! I hope that I'll become as talented as you someday!
Whoa! Thanks for playing the whole game and for all the advice! You're right, I should do all those things in the updated version! Best of luck to you on future games!
Best of luck to you as well!
Amazing! Art is great and I had a lot of fun playing :) Music fits your game really well too.
I like this little puzzle-skill game!
At first I didn't enjoy the fact that scientist starts moving as soon as you place a single block... But after a bit of playing, I quickly realized that this fact can actually be abused (and even encouraged) to get better score!
Not to mention neat art and simple narrative take on the theme :)
it's an excellent, well-designed game, i really like the art style, the music and the fact that the scientist starts his run the moment you put the first block, it adds a lot to the gameplay. the tutorial is difficult, but once you get the hang of it, it's really fun.
This is so clever and fun! The art is clean and simple, the music is nice, and I think the game definitely has potential to get people forever addicted by being continuously expanded with more levels. The cheese was a very nice touch ;) I'm happy the 'points needed' were challenging to meet sometimes, and the limited wall blocks and having to place them down as he's making his way towards the exit added to the stress.
With the Roles Reversed theme it'd be funny to see drug testing on humans as an added challenge haha!
Loved it!!
It was enjoyable creating routes for the little man! It was satisfying to learn a few tricks to boast time farther than originally expected!
Allowing the player to place blocks while the scientist ran around was a nice design choice, I think some developers would default to making you set everything up before releasing him. The real-time aspect not only gave the player a more hurried and exciting feel, but it opens up more strategy to place blocks at opportune times (suddenly trapping the little idiot at a dead end and making him wrap around felt like I cheated the system lol). Simple, elegant art design too. Thanks for the game :)
thank you for the insightful comment!!
For someone who's not huge into puzzle games, this one is my favorite out of all the puzzle games in the jam. Super fun I enjoyed every level. You asked for some "hard-hitting feedback" on discord, which is hard because you didn't leave a lot of room for criticism.
Here's some things that I would change if it was my game, maybe you can find some of it useful.
1. I would show the points required before the end of the level. The way you had it show after the level made me always fail once at the start just to see what the number was I had to reach.
2. I wouldn't give bonus points for blocks not used. It made it unclear whether it was worth it points vice to use an extra block, or to just use the block to increase the time a little, since both gave points and it was hard to tell which gave more. Imo it would have been better to just use every block available to try to get the best time available.
3. I would add a button to instantly restart the level. If you messed up and the scientist got past what you wanted it to, you had to wait for the score screen to retry even though you knew it was a failed run. Pressing R or something to restart instantly would have made it a lot nicer to try more timing oriented strategies.
Besides that, I just wish there were more levels. Absolute blast of a game, well done!
Oh my gosh thank you so much for this! You are totally right! Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful advice!
This game is extremely fun! The only thing I really wished for (and maybe there was and I just didn't find it) was a way to reset the level when I knew I messed up. That would've curbed the frustration of messing up right out the gate and having to watch the professor walk all the way to the exit before starting over
I know! It's the one thing I wish I had squeezed in
Good job all the same!
The game is really fun and creative. Placing box feels responsive and satisfying with sound effects.
thanks for trying it!
Great game! There was a lot more depth to the maze-building strategies than I originally realized.
I was impressed by how consistently the hints told me exactly what I was missing, and by how well-calibrated the target scores were.
The only thing I feel like the game is missing is a way to quick-restart a level. Sometimes I knew from the first second that I had messed up, but I had to wait for the scientist to get to the finish before I could retry.
totally! I wish I had time to put in a restart button. As it was I was up till 5 am working on it.
Heh, relatable. We added our pause menu with restart level button just a couple of hours before submission, after realizing that if players managed to get stuck they would have to restart the whole game.
So much fun!! Really really like this one!
Thanks for trying it!
Fits the theme really well, Controls aren't difficult to learn, and creative idea. Great job, keep it up!
I will! you too! :D
Really love your game! Super neat presentation and audio. Playing against the pathfinding in realtime was challenging but great fun!
Thanks for playing
Love it! Wonderfully on-theme (roles reversed) and this runs incredibly well on mobile. I played all the way through!
Super cool idea, fun, addictive and play super smooth. Easy on the eyes. Amazing submission!
Thank you so much for playing and rating! :D
This game is incredibly good! The assets are amazing, the gameplay is really smooth and solid and it’s just fun. It deserves more ratings!
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I'm a little unsure how to get more attention on it. There are so many other games!
