A tutorial would have helped, took me a while to figure out the controls and what the icons mapped to. Love the aesthetic chosen, kind of reminded me of old gameboy RTA games like advance wars.

I enjoyed building up a ton of units and mowing down all of the enemies! The music and sound effects do a good job setting the tone and feel of the game, as well. Some tutorial text in-game would be nice and would definitely help people learn how to play, but I got everything I needed from the itch page. It would be cool to lean into the role reversal more--maybe have mobile units deconstruct and recombine to form different units entirely (like a Voltron made out of tanks).

Wow, what an impressive entry! I had a lot of fun playing!
Would be nice to have a description of each construction in-game as it was quite confusing at the beginning tho.
But I still spent a good amount of time playing this game!

As someone working on RTS I am impressed you managed to put something together in that amount of time.  Congrats.

Took me some time to get used to how things worked but otherwise very nice work. RTS need more love!

Could you share your RTS link? I’m interested. :)

Well, I wouldn’t be able to pull that trick if it was my first RTS. :)

Also, it was my personal challenge. Some people from the community claimed that you shouldn’t make an RTS on a game jam. :D I ran out of time and couldn’t add a tutorial, so I guess they’re partially correct.

I am working on a c++ engine that handles rts so I can easily make multiple rts. I wish to make it accessible to others but right now there is absolutely no documentation and license so it remains for my personal use.  I am plugging it in Godot to create a first rts using it more as a technical demo than anything for now, here it is : https://simonpicarter.itch.io/fair-and-square

There is also a devlog here on how I handled collision avoidance and movement https://simonpicarter.itch.io/fair-and-square/devlog/540419/movements-and-collis...

I am happy with the progress, working on the multiplayer bits for now, I hope to be able to publish a real first demo on steam by the end of summer but you can already feel the engine working.

Once the engine is in a nice place I may try to use it for a short jam to evaluate how easy it is to use it.

Wonderful to play to competition

This is pretty damn impressive for a 2-day jam.

A bit confusing starting off, but one you get into it, its pretty satisfying watching all your buildings shoot down enemy bases. Also a very interesting take on the theme of the jam.

A more in depth tutorial would be really great but the art style... I love it ! Great job ;)

I couldn't really figure out how to play, but I don't play a lot of RTS games. The art was really cute and the music went well with it. Some more descriptive UI would help.

I think the amount of text required to explain the game in the description is a testament to how impressive this is for a 48hr jam game! Played for way longer than I expected, very solid rts fun!

Always love a good RTS. The main problem I ran into playing this was the lack of descriptions (Nothing trial and error can't solve if determined) and the inconsistency with target acquisition. Some of the units are just lazy and ignore inbound enemies. The 'Roles reversed' theme was also lost on me as for where it comes into play.
