really good idea, what a great presentation!

Well, that was fun! Every spin on the theme of you not being the hero in a dungeon I have seen so far didn't involve collaborating with the hero, so this is a surprise!

The low fps are kinda annoying. If I had to guess I would say it's probably due to the hero's raycasting. Could probably be optimized.

But it was enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!

A nice puzzle game! Very simple yet fun! Gj!

i grew fond to the kindhearted goblin dude. I also liked the luring mechanic too! The game quality looked very polished as if it is already uploaded on some kind of flash game site. Great work.

really cool game.  this could make a really cool mobile game

As a puzzle game it's a lot of fun :).  It works pretty cool, and it's the typical game with a simple premise but you can build new mechanics on it later. I have a doubt, does the goblin help the knight to leave his dungeon as soon as possible or does he genuinely have a good heart?

Developer(+1)

Thanks!! We debated on why the goblin was trying to help the hero. I think that he's trying to get him to the end so that he can defeat the evil king goblin or something, but Clay thinks that he's just a nice goblin who doesn't want to see any more adventurers fall in pits.
And yes, we had more mechanics planned. Even got pushing of barrels and boxes implemented, but didn't have time to create a level for that concept. You'd have to push them to block line of sight to the next torches.

With a couple of fixes, this could be a nice puzzle game!

Developer

Thanks! I agree!

I really like the idea of being a barrel laying coins. But the mechanic that you are frozen in the range of the player is a bit annoying.

Developer

Yea, it can be frustrating especially when it softlocks you. With more time...

really fun and cool idea. i love the level design good job

Developer

Thanks!! :D

Unfortunate that the frame rate can dip sometimes, but the idea is really cool! Only thing is if the goblin is spotted, maybe if there was a sound effect or something it would definitely help on game to player feedback. Good job!!

Developer

Yea frame rate is annoying. Good idea for the sound effect! We wanted to at least add an exclamation mark above his head or something.

Submitted(+1)

cool, but the slow frame rate makes it hard to play

Developer

Yea, the line of sight calculations took a lot. I'm sure there's a way to fix it somehow!

Can get frustrating at times (with performance and hitboxes), but a creative and fun concept.

Thanks

What a funky goblin, I feel their frustration and determination towards leading the adventurer along a safe route. Nice pick of art and music.

Developer

Thanks! Most of the art and music was just a template from Gamemaker, tbh.

Inputs not working but it looks cool

Developer

If it's on the first level, you may just have been spotted by the hero already. Try to restart and move before the door opens.

There seems to be a bug in the 'AI' code on the first level with the pits - the hero just goes to the top torch in the 2nd column and stays there.

Also, there is a massive slowdown in some cases, probably to do with how you check which light sources the hero can see.

Developer(+1)

The torches are along a path that he follows, but it's not always clear which direction the path is pointing. Wish we had more time to change that!
Yep, the line of sight calculations took a lot.

Of the 15 submissions I've tested so far, yours is the best. The game has potential, just needs few more mechanics (flipping levers to open/close gates/pits etc.)

Developer

:D Thanks! That was planned but we never got to it. We also had pushing objects to block line of sight implemented, but didn't design a level for it.

Didn't work so sorry. I loaded the game and pressing anything did nothing.

Developer (1 edit)

Darn! Do you see the main menu or not? If the first level loaded, you may have gotten frozen because the Adventurer saw you. Try to restart ("R") and move before the door opens.
