I was a little confused (seems to be a common theme with some of these games) with how it shot the tapes, but I figured it out. The puzzles were pretty easy, but that might have made it more enjoyable, and better that than being too hard. As a person who can spend a long time trying to figure out one puzzle (doesn't mean those games are bad games), every puzzle here never reached that point. It definitely has potential to be expanded upon. I was thinking this was going to be a more complex game, but it ended up being a simple game, and that's not a bad thing. I normally have criticisms, but I can't think of any aside from not being the most engaged with this game, but that's may not be necessarily a fault with your game.

I do wish I had more time for more engaging puzzles, and possibly some extra mechanics, but such is the way of jam development! Thank you for the kind words :)

Those were some fun puzzles! It took me a few levels to figure out what was going on, but once I got it, I enjoyed it a lot. The CRT effect was really nicely done too

This game is really fun! Usually, I am not a big fan of puzzle games but this one was extremely enjoyable! Amazing work!

This game is so so impressive. Such a smart idea and so well thought out. Loved getting to watch the correct attempt play back in reverse-reverse. The puzzles were great (even the advanced ones) and the visuals of the game are obviously quite simple but really work well. Loved it !

The difficulty of puzzle is perfect. I finished all advanced levels. The visual effect is very good.
You have my 5 stars.

Pretty fun and engaging game; would be even better if the shelves indicated which way the tapes will go

Developer

There is a white arrow over the whole shelf that shows its direction, but with the CRT filter it can be hard to see. Thanks for the review :)

Quite enjoyable puzzle game! I loved the visual style, and the mechanic was a little confusing at first but once I got it, it was quite interesting. I think perhaps an arrow by each of the shelves pointing at where they will shoot the VHS would be helpful in planning out a route as sometimes it can be a bit ambiguous whether it will be shot up or down if the shelf is horizontal, for example. But that's just a small nitpick. This is a fun, unique entry!

Great game!!!

I really like this game! Fun and simple!
The diagonal shelves made the game way harder at the end too.

I like the way the game looks too! Congrats!

Really well executed puzzle game! I liked the advanced levels a lot.

One of the most well made puzzle games graphically for the jam. I absolutely dig the retro aesthetic (it speaks to my heart), I'm getting all nostalgic for VHS tapes, LOL. A really interesting concept. Is the Role Reversal theme implemented in reversing the "Roll" of tape?

Presentation is absolutely lovely! This is a fun little game. My only comment is that it took me a moment to regsiter the numbers on the shelves as their contrast really blends with the shelves. Super fun little puzzle game! Well done!

I'm not sure the game was really in spirit with the theme, as there was no role reversal. That being said, it was a well made game. I played through the whole thing and there were a few cool puzzles in there.

While it doesn't fit the theme very clearly, this was a very fun puzzle game with a pretty unique concept. Good job overall!

Submitted

fun a bit confused on the theme implementation, but I don't really care but wish there was a bit more difficulty even with the advance levels the game is a bit too easy which is fine but for a puzzle game isn't the best, don't take this as negative comment I really like stuff like the VHS affect and the music just saying what could be improved.

Developer(+1)

I do wish I had more time to make levels, it ended up being one of the last things I did so I went with "easy and satisfying" because I didn't have time to test the difficulty and I wanted people to be able to finish it

ya makes sense and no problem with an easy game but puzzles do thrive off of difficulty in a lot of cases.

Cute puzzle game. The presentation is really nice. Puzzles are pretty simple and easy to me but thats better than having puzzles that are way too hard imo. Good job!

The non-advanced puzzles are pretty simple but I really dig the vibe of this one. Maybe I'm just missing something but I felt like I just had to time where the character was to catch the tapes, felt like the reverse part was more of a cool graphical trick instead of a puzzle mechanic.

Sweet filter. Nice job creating the music too.

Developer

yeah the actual puzzle mechanics are simple, the rewinding is all just for aesthetics and for the jam theme

From one guy who made a puzzle game to another, I really dig this! ^^

Blew through the puzzles pretty easily, but they all felt really fun and well thought out :D

This is an amazing puzzle game, especially for being made in such a small time! This is definitely one of my favorite puzzle games I've played and I couldn't even tell why. You've managed to make a really fun simple game which is the best. Please check out my game when you get the chance :)

Great game! My brain was a little confused with what to do sometimes but that doesn't make it any less good!

I really loved the graphics and the music (although it could have been a little bit less repetitive)

Also the bonus level are quite something to figure out! I really enjoyed it!
