That's a pretty cool mechanic! I almost feels like creating level-design.^^ In this aspect, I regret that the level are so shorts: I'd like to see all my guards in use. :P Aside this, I also enjoy the mood of the game. The music nails perfectly the heist vibe! Also the intro is very short, but sets the right tone quickly. Congrats for making this cool game!

Developer

Thank you! Players feeling like level designers was the intention!

Cool idea and very cool art like in the comics! Too bad there are only three levels and they are very simple, but still good job :)

Developer

Thank you!

It was so cool! I really enjoyed the main concept and the presentation!

Interesting concept ! I want to see more level, there's so much to do in terms of level design. Does the hero follow a predefined path, or does it adapt it path to the guards in order to avoid it ?

Developer

Hi, thank you for playing! The hero follows a predefined path. We wanted players to fully control the level, more like a puzzle game than a strategy one.

Very good idea. I like the use of the theme.

It's nice that guards has different patrol points and it's intuitive to place them. I'd like to have more level that need more reflection. I think that with this concept, it should be fun to add more game mecanics and add varieties of level.

Nice art end music ! I really enjoyed .

Well done all the team !

Developer

Thank you for playing! Yeah, there's a lot of potential for this idea, the mechanic is fun and we can add a lot of funny mechanics to it. Maybe we'll add one or two in the post-jam version.

Screw super good guy! I didn't let him free a single hostage :3

the game dev in me wants to congratulate you for the awesome work you guys did on 48h but the player in me wishes there was more gameplay to it! I really enjoyed your idea, planing the evil guys' path on the level and making it hard for the good character to win was awesome. I think a better AI would make the game more interesting but it's super hard to pull it off on a jam. It also would look way more realistic if the player waited a little bit and tried to see the evil guys' patterns before moving? maybe? just throwing random suggestions

One last thing, the opening art is sick!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, there isn't much in this version of the game, I expect the post-jam to include better execution of the mechanics. Actually, there is no AI, it's just about fixed positions. And finally, you're right, the superhero's pattern is just about moving and can be upgraded (maybe displaying it would simplify things). We'll see what we can do. Thank you for playing!

Really cool game, and a good fit for the theme. I will saw I completely forgot you can move the camera, so you can imagine I didn't do so great to begin with. The artwork and level design is really impressive for only 48 hours. Well done!

Developer

Most of the levels were made in 1 hour, we were not expecting someone to praise them lol. The camera movement wasn't fully explained in the game tbh, that's one of the things I wish we could have explained a better way. Thank you for playing!

Definitely an interesting concept with lotsa potential, which could become a fun puzzle game once expanded upon with more mechanics. The only nitpick i have is that the levels are too vast and i think it would be better if the level layout was smaller, but more complex.

But anyway, i really liked the presentation with the transitions and a cutscene. Good job!

Hi, thank you for testing the game! We didn't have a lot of time to make the levels, so we tried different level sizes. The last one definitely confirmed that large levels don't work well. I'll try to make new ones for a post-jam version to see how it looks with better levels.

The design and premise is really good but I feel like the 48hr time limit didn't do you any favours, neither did us ;) If the paths of the hero were to be made to be a puzzle the gameplay would greatly benefit. Now it seems kinda like I should place the paths randomly. Also, the game crashed when I tried to go to the next level on the last level :) Don't get me wrong, I only point these things out because I see a lot of potential in this idea and for a 2 day jam it really doesn't need to be any better. Good job on delivering :D

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thanks for playing! Yeah, the 48hr time limit was definitely not enough time haha. We had ideas on adding different things that could have improved the gameplay expirence but we just didn't have enough time. We also plan on improving the game more post jam.

Thank you so much for the feedback! :)

Really loved the art and story on this one, and the music is great too! I will say, gameplay isn't amazing, perhaps it would be better if you could see where the hero is going to go? or something extra like that to add a bit more strategy. Overall I had fun with it!

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thanks for playing the game! I totally agree that we were missing something to give the game that wow factor but with the time constraints we didn't have time to properly go over and come up with a idea that we thought fit the game well. I hear there are plans to expand the game after the jam. Do you have any suggestions that could improve the gameplay?

Submitted(+1)

Yeah totally fair, we all only had 48 hours! If I'm honest, I can't really think of any specific improvements, but I'm sure others playing this game will have some suggestions.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing, and  for your feedback, I'm very happy that the music was enjoyed !

I always wondered how the thug patrols in the Batman games feel, I guess I got my answer! I really like the idea and the funny vibe. The controlling was a little annoying, as I didnt know where my guy will go after the steps I planned out. But luckily It never broke the game and there was no need to restart the game 10x times, so I appreaciate that.  Overall a really nice gamejam game. :)

Developer

When you say that controlling guards is hard, is it about guards going back and forth? Was it confusing? There wasn't any possible solution given the left time but if so, I'll take note of it for the post-jam version.

Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I guess that because of how slow the guard is, it makes it a little bit tedious along with the fact that the guard starts walking randomly after finishing his original route.  But I of course get that balancing stuff is hard on a gamejam haha.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback I'll look for it. It doesn't seem intended that the guard walks in a random direction. He's supposed to restart the path by going in the opposite direction.

Submitted(+1)

I tried it again, looks like Im just dumb and forgot that the starting position counts as a part of the path too! Your code is fine, sorry, my mistake haha.

Submitted(+1)

Haha really good game. Even if I know there was 3 levels I pressed "Next" after finishing third level and it stuck on loading screen. Only issue was it finished so quickly and so easily. I think you can increase the speed of the "bad" guy we are controlling,  so it can become more unpredictable. Something like: "Will he able to turn back before hero arrives?", we need to say that.

But come on, 3 levels for this game? I need more. I want to see after-jam version. Really good game! Good job!

Developer

Yeah, we didn't make a function to check if it was the last level, but it's not a huge bug as you just played all the levels, and it's skippable. It is pretty easy, there wasn't enough time for me to work on the levels and make funny things (we have the technology though), and I know some bugs are still there. We stated that making something easy that you can play with in different ways might just be more enjoyable. Some features didn't make it, such as objects that guards and superhero can collect and use, and different types of patrol points.

There will certainly be a post-jam version to add missing fixes and features (and maybe more levels, there's a lot to do with this game).

Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Looking forward to it! For "Next Level" issue, my intention was just nitpicking :) Followed you for more updates!

Developer(+1)

No worries, I was expecting someone to discover this bug, seems that you were the chosen one!

Very cool concept! I like the title art.
