Love this type of game, big Boss Monster vibes. Well done! 26 monsters defeated.
Yeah, Boss Monster was a big inspiration for how BÖSS works. Thank you!
This reminds me a lot of Boss Monster, and I loved that game, so that's a good thing! It felt a little random how well I did, but I liked finding weird combos with the cards.
yes, the Boss Monster card game is also one of my favorite games, and it was a big inspiration to how BÖSS works.
Yes, the cards you get are entirely random, as there was absolutely no time for a proper deck building system or similar unfortunately.
Pretty good foundation, just needs more polish/sounds etc. Also it really threw me off that the HP was on the left and damage on the right. Every single big card game in existence does it damage on the left and HP on the right, no reason really to not follow that norm.
Funny enough the room design had left damage and right health. But then I set both the boss and the heroes up to be the other way around, and when I noticed it it was easier to swap the room design than the other two. :D
Also because I haven't played so many card games recently that I would've thought of or even be aware of this convention. Now that I know about it though, if I ever continue with this game I will swap them :D
Starts off a bit simple but I like how the cards with special effects allow for some interesting strategies.
Loved it! High score: 9 rounds, 31 heroes defeated
That's pretty good! The average seems to be around 7-8 rounds, best I've seen so far was 10. Great job!
Oh boy I really do love card games like this. Great job, the only thing I missed was some music and more SFX.
Thank you, I hope my game was good for your love :D
Yeah, SFX and music unfortunately needed to take a bit of a backseat for this solo project - but therefore you got 16 cards, with 10 or so of them actually having a special effect! ;)
If you check the game we've made, you ll see a lot of similutude with this one !
You are the boss and you manage your monsters. Your game is more like a traditional card game and mine was more a like dungeon management game.
But still, the ideas is similar !
Nice game!
I liked it, it was simple to understand and fun to play. Being able to speed up the game is a nice QOL feature.
The game has a very high level of completion. It is a very interesting card game.
I loved the idea, very interesting mechanic. So simple to undertand and makes you think about nice strategies. Got 8 rounds and 25 heroes defetaed hahah
Simple concept but effective! I liked how it's similar to a turn based game but with the cards you display on your "side"
nice one, but i was missing some music
Very good game! Interesting to play. But it's sad that there is no any roles reverse except of visual one :( It's steel very cool!
Really good concept, main problem in my opinion was the enemies outscaled my cards too fast, maybe Tier 2/3 of the same cards with buffed up stats for the later stages with Knights and Barbarians?
Otherwise very addictive!
no I agree completely - the balancing is a bit out of whack, as the heroes are too strong / too numerous too quickly. Easy fix, but unfortunately I was a little pressed for time at the end and didn't manage to do a long winded playtest to figure out balance. :D
great result
This was great! Very addictive and creative! Would love a bg music as I play this.
I totally decided that players can choose their own music as they play and it wasn't because I didn't have time to find some good background music and implement audio controls, nono... ;)
glad you otherwise enjoyed it. what's your highscore? :D
I liked this one. The mechanic was fun and the card art was nice
I've seen multiple games having this "Core idea", but I think this one is one of the best execution. Nice and fun
thank you. :)
This was the game I played the most in the jam. I don't know if it's by design but when using an archer on top of other card the passive doesn't work.
I actually wanted to do a card game in this jam too but didn't have enough time.
Well done!
that's great to hear (that you played the game a lot, not that you found a bug :D).
No, the archer is supposed to work whenever it's on top of the pile, no matter whether it has cards under it. Its bonus is calculated at the start of the round so it doesn't account for destroyed cards (by technical/time limitation, not design tho). I did notice it being a little inconsistent though, but only after the deadline unfortunately.
Oh well - it's a GameJam game, here be bugs. :D
