God I wish my poor little laptop could run unreal games better
Love the concept! The presentation was solid too - the humming and ambient drone were great little touches. Like others have said, the gameplay could probably use some additional variety, but we all know how gamejams go. The core idea was very fun and I certainly enjoyed my time with it!
Little Nigtmares with fruits! Love that, great work for a 48h jam!!!
Thanks to everyone who is playing our game!
Now that's a dope concept!
I really liked the controls! It feels nice to just move around.
I do wish there were more obstacles between you and the objective. I feel like I could just avoid the chef by going through the floor on the right. Maybe getting rid of the ramp to avoid getting to the goal easily could have helped.
The explosion when getting cut by the knife gave me a good chuckle, very fun!
I've got info that I need Visual C++ Runtime installed, unfortunately I cannot install that. I am unable to play : < I was so motivated to play that!
The game ran very poorly for me, but that's been reoccurring with unreal projects. overall still a fun game with an interesting concept. Great job!!!
Hello from another developer of a food-related game called Undercooked! Great minds think alike, heh.
I was impressed to find out that all of the assets were made during the jam! Kudos for using Unreal as well.
The gameplay was fairly straightforward. Avoiding the chef wasn't as difficult as moving up the ramp, for example. Would have liked to see more gameplay elements relating to hiding in plain sight or messing with Chef Eris. I liked the assets and the randomly-exploding-and-floating butcher's knife, haha.
(P.S. I noticed the Vancouver poster - shoutouts from the BC area!)
Very impressive! The cook was absolutely horrifying
Wow! Unreal in a gamejam - that's so cool!
Clever idea! Hats off to you for using Unreal Engine for a game jam!
Her voice scarried me! Good sounddesign and good minimalistic models. I think you didn't locked FPS so my video card got hot. Wish you good luck!
Interesting idea! I saw another game that had a similar concept where a tomato was attacking the chefs, but the 3D perspective of this one certainly gave it a different spin. The camera was a little wonky though, and it took a minute to realize that you had to press the spacebar for the WASD controls to work.
I really liked the environment and the GMTK branded items, but the short gameplay made me feel like I missed something. The humming was creepy but otherwise it wasn't scary, the chef didn't even manage to kill me when I was on the counter next to her. The game gives me major I am toast vibes!
I am personally not a fan of horror games but this is great! Camera might need some polish though, but I fee you as cameras are really hard to get it to behave....
Considering the time you had to make the game it turned out pretty amazing! Great Job
fun idea but the camera was wonky as hell, also rolling wasnt easy at all so i had to jump all the time to move. also didnt expect some horror in a funny game like this but i liked it, good job
Didn't think I'd be playing a horror game as a fruit!
Really funny idea! Very impressive that all the assets and everything were all done by your team in 48 hours. The game look great for such a short time to work on it all. The sound was good to, especially the creepy humming and the spotted sound!
The gameplay was fine, though I noticed that the camera was a bit of a struggle to get cooperating. The whole game also seemed a tad... simple? It was pretty much just hopping to the pot on the other side of the room. I beat the game twice!! Might have been nice if you either had to go to different spots to comfort other vegetables, or I thought while doing it that it might be like each time you get a vegetable over you then switch to a different vegetable at a different location or with a different move set. Maybe that was the plan, but I know time is super limited in these things!
Anyways still very impressive all that your team was able to pull off in this jam! Great work and good luck!!
Thank you so much! Yes, we had the plan to have multiple vegetables with different movement styles and the more you could save the better rating you get, but we simply ran out of time and had to focus on fixing bugs...
Reallly atmospheric game that lowk scares me but really well done! Couldn't imagine using Unreal for the first time that's tough. Great job!!
Really impressed at the assets put together here in a short amount of time! Would be nice if there was a bit more variety/a clearer objective. Not too sure on how to turn this into a game with some longevity to it
It says they created the vast amount of art during the jam right there, that is really impressive, no assets there.
absolutely 😄 I meant the assets they created by assets put together
sorry for missunderstanding lol you made a cool game though
Thanks for the compliment on our team's art. Fell behind on the programming and a lot of the team had never used Unreal Engine before. Thanks for playing!
2D artist here, thanks for coming to view the game!
