I am happy to behave beaten the dark souls like Megalania!
The storytelling was my favorite part of this. It was super cute, and it fit the theme well. The pictures in the book and the book itself were really nice, and the models in-game were good.
The gameplay was on the verge of being good, but needed some in-game explanations to improve the experience. Things like the chicken egg knocking over pitchforks and the emu egg exploding were not intuitive to me, and I only figured them out after re-reading back to the web page. I also found the invisible walls to be a bit confusing. I understand they're meant to keep you on track, but for things like the spikes in the emu level, I ended up just walking around the full border looking for a way to escape assuming that the invisible wall had a hole somewhere because the spikes didn't scream "breakable" to me.
I still enjoyed the adventure of becoming a dinosaur though!
Thank you for playing and the feedback! :) <3 We will definitely improve the playing experience by making gameplay options more clear! The spikes themselves don't have an invisible wall btw. That is just the collision of them and the Emu, but I get your point and we will definitely see what we can do about the level designs and communication towards the player :D
I realy like the Idea, and it suits the theme realy well. Good game tho.
Thanks for your kind words! <3 :D
The game looks sooo good. Amazing work. But I didn't much get what I must do. I read that hitting pitchforks with an egg will make them fall, but I was unable to do it. But I still enjoyed the "story" (it was quite funny) and the look of the game, so no worries.
The egg is indeed a little hard to push against the pitchfork at times, especially with the farmer chasing you. I always have trouble with it too, though the other two seem to be better at it, so maybe there's a trick to it that I just don't know ^^" Thanks for trying the game though! <3 :D
Great nice but felt quite lonely without any sound. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for trying the game! :D Yea, sound would definitely have added quite a bit
Nice game, some sound would've added a lot to the game in my opinion! The only sad thing I found was that I had to read the game page to figure out my options, and would've liked some instructions instead.
Nonetheless, a really good game, and definitely worth exploring further.
This was a cute game with neat art! It took me a while to get through it and understand what exactly my interaction options were. Some additional sound and animation would help out here to give more feedback to the player. I hope you flesh it out more post-jam because this is a neat concept!
Thanks a lot for the kind words! :D <3 We do hope to flesh it out post-jam for sure! Unfortunately we ran out of time for sound and animation, but we'll keep all feedback in mind :)
very cute game and great story. good job!
Thanks for trying it out :) Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting idea and cool little story. Nice game!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! :D
I like the story idea, I just wish that it would run better and for the existence of sound and animation. Another thing would be to fix the damage system, since you could get hit/touched by enemies and take multiple points of damage, die, or just get hit once. A different issue I had that I thought was funny was that when the farmer walked over one of my eggs, the farmer went flying about 30 meters into the air and got stuck on top of a fence post. Don't know if it was intentional design, but it is definitely gruesome if you think about it (REVENGE!).
I think the lag may be coming from the high rendering/camera expectations from those settings, or maybe because the AI are targeting the player every frame? Idk, I don't even use unreal. :/
A cool idea, and good execution for the limited time.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! <3 :) While not technically intentional, we did encounter the farmer flying a couple of times as well. Wasn't too game-breaking and kind of funny, so we didn't really care fixing it for the game jam :D
As for the lag, it could be the AI. Honestly, most of the assets are too low poly and the material is too simple for them to cause too much lag, but we'll have a better look at it another time when we have some time again for sure. Thanks for the idea though! :)
The idea and the graphics are great! Playing was a little hard with my setup and I didn't finidh to get out of the farm but it was fun and the storybook was very nice too!
Great work, I hope you can make a really finished game out of it and upload! :D
Awww, thank you! We are hoping to! <3 :D Thanks for playing it!
Very nice game. Fun concept of the chicken wanting to "devolve" back to being a dino. Certainly worth further exploring. Pleasant combination of trying to remain out of reach from an enemy and looking for hidden possibilities to escape from their range or neutralize them. Nice graphics, going well with the funny story line. I am not a gamer but had a good time playing this one. Well done of this game jam team!
Thank you for these kind words! Glad you enjoyed playing it! <3 :)
The artstyle of the game looks really nice, I would have liked if it had some sound effects, but otherwise nice game!
Thanks! <3 Glad you liked it. Will definitely be looking into some sound effects next time :)
It's a lovely little game, and I like the interpretation of the theme. The lack of sound really doesn't help, and that I don't actually know what the gameplay was about, but 48 hours is a short time, and you succeeded in creating something!
True! Next time we will definitely add sound! :) Thanks for giving it a shot!
This game ramped up my GPU fans. Was optimization an issue?
We haven't encountered any performance issues ourselves...
Unskippable cutscenes can become a bit boring. It's very hard to understand what you have to do and after you drop pitchfork there's no hints that gate have opened. Is camera should rotate? It doesn't for me, so it's hard to see level.
Good concept though.
We'll keep the feedback in mind! The camera is not supposed to rotate, but I do agree that it can make it hard to notice stuff. Thanks for playing! <3 :)
Cool and cute game! Too bad there isn't any audio
Thanks! Yea, unfortunately had no time for audio :) Would definitely have been nice!
Interesting concept!
I think the game looks very pretty, though I had issue with framerate running on my pc.
I had fun running away from the farmer, though I'm not sure what all I have to do. Once I got to the garden area, I wasnt sure where to go or if I needed to collect certain items.
All in all, great job for working within such a strict time limit!
It seems apparently people have issues with the performance. It was not a problem on our laptops, but we'll definitely have a look at it at some point! :) After the garden area, you have to leave through a gate that opens when you knock over a pitchfork. It is very unintuitive, we know. The second level is a little more intuitive. Thanks for trying though! <3 :)
Hi there, thank you for your response! After hearing about the pitchfork, I gave the game another try.
I feel like I still had some jittering issues, but overall the game ran better than before! I think I was getting stuck mainly because I didn't know I could lay eggs! I managed to move the pitchfork and get to the second level but got a little stuck because I wasn't sure how the eggs worked. I think my brain is just empty today after work, but it took me a bit to understand that the eggs were used to blow up.
I was confused as to why the scene kept restarting, but found out I was blowing myself up!! Oops..
Once I got that down, it was smooth sailing and I made it to the boss fight and got it after one failed try!
All in all, I think its really impressive how much functionality you were able to achieve in such a short time, thank you for sharing!
P.S. I think it was really clever how you handled the cutscenes. In my game, I really struggled with text on screen, but have a book that had several sections of text appear one after another was a great solution!!
Aww, thanks for giving it another shot and the kind words! :) <3 I'm glad you figured it all out though! We will definitely look into the performance issues at a later time still :D
The game is far too laggy for me to play, sorry.
