Comments
This is a personal comment to the creator, as I am not participating in this jam, but notice this guy posting "unfinished, unplayable games" left and right in game jams.
Do yourself a favor and stick with a game engine and learn it instead of Godot, GMTK and whatever other engines you have installed and post games with.
You're not only wasting your own time, you're wasting the time of other people here.
Your game creations have an estimated 5 minutes of work. What are you going to do with it? Jams aren't about being the first to upload a game, they're about teaming up with others or doing a huge amount of work on your own in a short amount of time, outdoing yourself, or finally trying something, but this can't even be called trying to post this unfinished game 1 day and 9 hours before the deadline while the Game Jam is only 48 hours long.
In another game jam, you uploaded a game exactly 5 minutes after the jam started and all you can do is move your character. That's not a game and honestly a waste of traffic to even "download/start" it.
To this Game itself as im still Tested it:
The first Question, What do you want people to rate here? You can move the pipes completely off screen and they never come back, and the bird flies from left to right only to reappear on the left side and reset the "score" to 0.
Great concept! You didn't even manage to make a simple Flappy Bird game concept in 48 hours, since you post it after only 15 hours (probably forgot about the jam, sleep, wake up and realize, oh there's a new jam going on, let's post my latest line of code i created.
I wish you anyway a good Time and better Games
:P To everyone else, have fun with this game jam
I appreciate your comment but I am sticking with my engine(godot), i am learning things in every jam. For example, I learned how to make a pathfinding system in my previous jam and learned how to make a shooting system in one of my games. I like to learn in this way and joining jams. For this jam, I had an emergency and coudn't make a full game so I though I should make a game quickly in Gdevelop and record it and give voiceover later for it and upload it t
It's no problem everyone has to start, but i gonna tell you its not the right start if you post such Projects to Game Jams, i dont think its fun for you to hear Comments like "I dont know what to do" or that people not understand the sense of your "Games".
Try to clone yourself a game like flappy bird so you can learn about programming. Then join a Jam and impress yourself by making those Flappy Twist, your Idea is not bad, but the execution could be way better if you had just invested a couple more Hours and not send your Game ASAP. Im not sure if you even Tested what you did, thats how it feels.
Your Game Idea, could be fun to play if you actually have a Level and repeating Pipes that you can move.
But how i said "The Gameplay" Move the Pipes out of the way lean back and watch a bird going from left to right and a number that goes to 5 and then resets to 0.
You could have just done so much more without that much effort
Edit:
By the way it looks like i was right with my thought "You Just wanted to Post your latest Line of Code you created", :p Thats hilarious :p But hey Never give up okay? Keep Learning and creating and reach for the Stars!
thanks!. Btw,would you mind if I send you the link of my video when I am finishedyou can.
Sorry for the bad vidoe
You apologizing for a lot of stuff you did wrong and forgot, thats not the way you should go , try to sell the story of features xD
But seeing your Video I'm even more convinced that the estimated Time of this "Flappy Wall" was 9 Minutes while 3 Minutes took for Initializing and loading up the Project while you need 3 Minutes to Export the Game and exactly 3 Minute to import Sprites and write your 10 Lines of Code.
And all those little "Misstakes" you mention in your Video is due to the fact
How i said, you should get yourself a small game scope and pursue it. GMTK, Godot, Unity, Unreal and whatever Engines have Template Projects for Free you can take a look on and train with it. Then try to copy it, improve it or add your own twists to it.
Writing a new mechanic and call it a game is not how making games work, not even how Prototyping works, as said, i wouldn't even consider to name your "game" a prototype.
Don't expect from you to get a Game in a couple hours or days, there are big Companies working with 10-50 people on a Title for years. But keep your One Line Code Projects out of Game Jams, not fun.
Wanna Show you a Project Scope for the Mecha Jam 4 so you get an idea what your looking for in the future.
The Game is in an early Alpha Stage contains 71 newly created Scripts in 12 Days, creating a Survivor Style Game with Mech and Kaijus.
I dont expect that from you, im a Senior Software Engineer with some Assets in my Repo and also have own Assets in the Asset Store, but i wanna see you next time doing atlast 25% of it in the Game Engine of your Choice.
Thanks for your advice. I will keep it in my mind. Btw, how did you find me
Not sure to understand how to play the game. I move a pipe, wait for the bird and it restarted.
Hmm, I'm not quite sure what the goal is. Am I trying to block the bird or let it through? And what's the number in the top left?
The score in the top left is the score and you are supposed to let them through
