How does your game fit the theme?
My game fits the theme by "reversing the roles" of your classic space defense game, where you instead have to send spaceships against a defender instead of defending from them

This is a clever take on the theme because you're not just playing as the aliens, you're playing as both the space ship and the "aliens" in alternating rounds. With more ship types, and perhaps more control over the invasion phase, I think this could be developed into a cool fully fledged game!

An interesting take on an establish formula and I'm a sucker for good pixel art (if my own game didn't give that away). I'd be curious to see this more fleshed out, do you have any plans for post Jam development?

Great take on the theme! I appreciate that it's not just "you play as the enemy" but rather has you swapping back and forth between defense and attack. It really sets it apart from other submissions.

When it comes to critiques, the other reviews have covered the feedback well. I can agree that if development were to continue that the "attack" phase needs the most work. With more unique unit movement patterns, some general polishing, and maybe even a story this could truly become a unique product.

Overall great work! You've come up with a very expandable and versatile project idea and I think it has great potential to be taken further!

Fun concept, fits the theme well.

Hey Robyn! I watched it played on Twitch and gave it a whirl myself. Nice work!

Great game though I wasn't sure what the objective was on the buying ships phase... they all just seemed to sit there until they inevitably got shot. I love games where you buy your units like that but was disappointed they weren't doing anything cool.

Yeah, the "attack" phase did not get nearly as fleshed out as I hoped it would. If I ever turn this game into a full release I'll probably add ships with abilities and improve the UI so that the "attack" phase feels satisfying to play :3 Thank you for all your feedback <3

Great stuff overall, Managed to get to level 25. Experimenting with the order of units you can send out to try to get as many lives as possible is quite enjoyable.  Shooting is decent, though later on you can get a reliable level clear by staying in one spot,  should def sprinkle in more movement pattern variety.
Some bugs here and there but quite clean. The arts okay but could be better, I like the spaceship sprites. Would be leagues better if the artstyle was more consistent overall though

Game was super fun, almost made it past level 15! difficulty ramps up perfectly and is perfectly balanced. the game could be more fun with a slightly faster shooting speed (or atleast an upgrade system) and a description of how each attacking ship functions would be helpful too!

Great presentation and fun concept! I do like the role switching every round. My only suggestion would be some kind of tooltip to know the benefits of each mercenary ship, some of them move similarly and it's unclear if the more pricier ones reach further or avoid better.
