A solidly enjoyable game, and a pretty unique take on the theme. I'm especially impressed by the leaderboard!
Thousand thanks for trying out our game! <3 And I agree that the leaderboards implemented by the devs is very cool, my competitive spirit got lit up seeing the leaderboards ahaha
Really great game!
The upgrades make it very interesting, I loved that at the start you choose upgrades that help avid shots and towards the end you need much more firepower :D
I would maybe increase the characters movement speed a bit, at some point it makes the most sense to go in a circle a lot of the time since it's the easiest way to avoid shots.
I love the leaderboard, can I ask how you implemented it? it sounds hard for a two day jam
Overall I had a lot of fun with this game :)
Thanks for playing!
I agree with the issue with running in circles late game. Maybe the gun should overheat once in a while so players can go the other way.
The leaderboard was done with SilentWolf for Godot, the setup for it is pretty quick. I think there's a few alternatives for Unity, but for Godot I can't recommend SilentWolf enough.
fun twist on a genre I enjoy! sadly the leaderboard wouldn't accept input for me to join it but i got 203.
Nooo sorry for that. I think that's a bug that slipped through. My guess is the submit button disables the textbox. 203 is incredible, glad to hear you liked it.
Delightfully A E S T H E T I C shooter. Though I suppose it's less of a "shooter" and more of a "shot at". The combination of investment in damage as well as extra danger is both a fun and challenging one.
Thank you for your feedback on our game!
We noticed that there weren't much games with vaporwave art style in it. Us artists were very excited to challenge ourselves, stepping into this relatively unseen style in games.
Giving perks for turret was awesome idea - it really ties the whole thing together and It gives this interesting difficulty curve where it's simultaneously easier and harder.
this is how I imagine the difficulty curve looks like
Perfectly fits the theme, fun to play and pleasent to look at. What else do you need?
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! I think the game can be even worked on even more, to make it better XD hopefully in the near future if we ever come back to it. Thanks so much for playing and commenting
Super fun and well done, and I like the idea of adding a leader board!
Glad you had fun playing our game! Definitely the leaderboard was a good add-on for the game. Thanks so much for playing and commenting!
Nice style and work well. Good upgrades!
A E S T H E T I C S ~ Vaporwave
Glad you love the style and the game! thanks for playing our game!
very nicely packaged, cool tradeoff between killing enemies, and increasing difficulty. Great stuff :D
Thanks so much for playing and commenting! We are glad you enjoyed our game :D
Great entry! Somehow adds more chaos to the bullet hell genre. Nice use of the vaporwave aesthetic too!
Thank you for your time on our game!
Vaporwave in itself is also a 'chaotic' art style, it fits perfectly into the late game!
Quite pleasant. Easy to jump in and play a few rounds. Nicely composed, and balanced gameplay.
Thanks for your comment! I am glad you enjoyed our game!
Nice looking game. Simple and enjoyable.
Thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed playing our game!
Very fun game, I love how the "reversal" is simple yet it produces a really addictive core gameplay loop. I also dig the vaporwave aesthetic!
Ikr! I got addicted to it too, trying to challenge myself to see how far I could go hahaha
Glad that you liked the vaporwave aesthetic. In the beginning we wasn't really sure if we could convey the essence of vaporwave very well but after a lot of improvements, safe to say it looks better now :)
incredibly fun! great entry!
We are glad you had fun playing our game as it was our first GMTK game jam! Thanks so much for playing and commenting :D
Great game! Cool idea that was very well executed.
Thanks for playing and commenting! Glad you like our game idea!
Surprisingly fun to play and really great juice. The art style was kind of random but had a cool aesthetic and you did a really good job on the music.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the game :)
This art style indeed feels random when you first look at it. It's an art style called 'vaporwave', where it combines 2d and 3d graphics to induce a surreal feeling into you. Adding onto the color it also feels kind of dream-like. If you like this aesthetic you can search for more online :D
Thank you for the compliment on the music too! I'm sure our composer would be very much over the moon hearing your compliment on it :)
Yeah I know the vaporwave aesthetic, I’ve just never seen it used in a game this way before. It definitely works out tho!
Interesting idea, feels really nice to play and has a great retro aesthetic!
Thanks for your comment and glad you play our game! Appreciate the comment on the idea and the vaporwave aesthetic of the game.

Good quality for 48h, menu, music vfx etc, nice work. But i have to say about some future trubles (if you will expand project later).
There are things that feel easier to avoid, so player will try get only them like bullet size have more profit cuz they have bigger collider, so enemys more offen touch it, and you still dont need much skill to avoid it. Opposite of this - bullet speed, now you cant be too close from gun, cuz your speed not enoght to evade.
May be you should add score multiplicator for each debuff, that will be falling if player keep getting debuffs with same type. May be with debuffs, give a little player buffs, so player will think "i dont want take this gun perk, but this powerup will outweigh the disadvantage".
*Random gameplay opinion*. Anyway, GL mate.
[Obligatory thank you for feedback]
You have brought up some pretty good points. In terms of game design, I'm uncertain as well whether this game would scale well. I think each upgrade will have parts when they are better than others. Off the top of my head:
- attack speed is good for late game to clear more enemies, but makes the bullet harder to dodge
- ricochet is good for early game as it helps clear those stranded fast enemies, but dodging bullets becomes a nightmare later
I think the upgrades work well for the game's current stage, but probably falls flat quickly. Perhaps having different levels with different enemies is the way to go, we don't want each session to take too long. The buff/debuff idea is interesting, reminds me of Shotgun King. That might be worth considering since the player doesn't scale in any way.
Currently we don't have any plans to continue this project, but it's nice to get opinions on game design. Sometimes I forget that this jam is hosted by a game design channel lol.
Cheers!
Great visuals, it has a nice difficulty curve
Thank you for trying out our game! It was a brand new territory for the art style, and we're glad that it worked quite well in the end :)
Interesting fun idea, I also love the art style, I have a sweet spot for vaporware. Nicely done
Thank you for playing our game!
Glad that you liked the art style :) Hope we did justice for the vaporwave style
