There are multiple ways I Reversed Roles. The player plays as the wizard's staff. The player's spells can hurt them too. Having too much mana kills the player.

Very cute game!
Thank you!
i love the reversal/twist on the mana mechanic, it makes for a really interesting risk-reward system
Like the idea that the staff using the wizard!
Thank you! I like it too!
Confusing at first but had so much fun!
Glad you liked it :)
Combining mana and health while making having too much mana kill you is very interesting game design! It makes waiting for your high cost spell risky as you might get hit and die almost instantly, but if you are at low mana you could intentionally get hit in order to get more mana quickly. Very cool dynamic. The controls took some getting used to, and I wasn't a big fan of the presentation. Good job overall though!
Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you liked the mana mechanics! I hope you still enjoyed the game despite not liking the presentation!
I did still like the game :) Presentation isnt a dealbreaker for me especially since its a game jam(and Im not gonna pretend my own game looks good lol). I just appreciate cool game mechanics which you certainly have so dont worry!
I'm not sure I fully understand all the mechanics, but the basic idea of spending mana as it accumulates, where hitting the maximum mana (I think?) makes you lose is actually genius. A bit more polish and this game could be really neat. I also really like the intro story - it's short and to the point, but a great addition.
I'd appreciate it if you check out my game too if you have a minute!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the concept. Yes, if you get too much mana you die.
Fun concept.
Thank you
Funny concept, I sometimes seemed to die to nothing though :(
I'm glad you liked the concept, I don't know what you died to, maybe the mana bar?
Funny idea! :D
Thank you!
Funny idea! :D
Thank you! :D
Some of the SFX was really funny and on point lol. Hard to get a grasp of at first, understood after a couple of deaths - good stuff overall!
Thank your for your kind words! Glad you liked it!
Hah, what a silly game. I liked the intro story about the staff's motivations to kill the tree because of his "partreants" lol. It took me a couple of restarts once I started playing, but it gets really hectic trying to keep the magic low! The sound effects were also really fun. Good job!
I'm really glad you liked it! Thank you for playing!
