Very ambitious for a 48 hour game and for the most part you succeded. Was especially impressed by the animations.

Would love to have some more audio feedback when your low on obidience/ failed commands etc.

Also I would often instantly fail commands when I was fighting (increase the time window or something)

I loved the graphics however sometimes I would follow her commands and the game would act as if I didnt.

Controls were a bit off! Great job on creating this in 48 hrs! Check out ours too!

Oh wow this is great! Super unique theme that really matches the jam. And the visuals/music are also fantastic. I liked that their was unique ending screens for both dying and disobeying (I did both on purpose to see). I also defeated Boxer Bear! Solid gameplay as well, the fighting felt pretty juicy for what I thought initially was going to be super basic.

The entire thing was great, but I'd say my only complaint is it seemed that the trainer wasn't quite lenient enough, either with giving you enough time to do her request or with just what's going on in general. A lot of times you would be in combat and she may say to do something, but then you get hit (because you're fighting) and she instantly is unhappy. I suppose that's why the thinking logo is down below so when I saw that I usually ran away. But another one would be when she tells you to play dead or not move, and you don't but then the enemies slightly push you and then she is angry again. Just slightly annoying. But this complaint is extremely minor! Just an observation, the game itself for a jam game is still like a 96/100! Oh one super super minor thing is the very beginning it took me like 30 seconds to figure out I was supposed to go up straight through the bushes tree tops/ thought I would need to go right or left.

But yes overall this is exceptionally well done! Incredible it was all put together in 48 hours. Your team should all be super proud of the work you put into this!! Wouldn't be surprised if this makes it into the top 100. Fantastic work!!

Thanks so much for the feedback! I realized right after we submitted that getting hit will always send a signal back as a response; it should've only triggered when the trainer asks for the "get hit" command. Still very happy you found everything else enjoyable, thanks so much for playing!

One of my favorites I have seen so far. Loved the animation so much! adorable AF. The game was a little glitchy with the controls, but I am amazed this was done in 48 HRS! good job, I love it very much.

Adorable art style! The combat was very satisfying, though I wish that Bompurr would attack where my cursor was instead of the direction it's facing. Amazing!

The art style is so cute! I am really impressed. I did have to stop playing when the screen started to shake because I get motion sick *really* easy. I really wanted to be able to finish. Great work though! I really liked what I managed to play.

This is great! I loved your spin on the Pokemon genre. It was a bit tough to fight behind trees because you can't really see what you're doing, but overall that's a fairly minor complaint and it didn't stop me from enjoying the game. Very nice work!

This game is absurdly cute. The visuals and music are on point. But I think it's the little details that impressed me the most. I've seen a few teams put out some stuff that looks professionally done and/or is mechanically polished. But I was shocked when I realized this game had hit stops and the trainer reacting if you attack her. Those kinds of little details help make a game feel alive, but aren't prominent or easy to do under strict time constraints. So seeing stuff like that AND that the game is also polished makes this one of the most impressive jam entries I've had the pleasure of playing. I actually had a Pokemon-like myself, and this kind of inspires me to go back and do the things I couldn't see realized before the jam ends. Excellent job.

Thanks so much for the kind words! We're so glad we took the time to add in those little details (granted, I could've gone and fixed a bunch of other things but I was so burned out by the end haha).

I believe I've seen a few games similar to this in this Jam, but this game is charming, well-made, and actually interesting. Pretty art, soothing music, great concept! Bonus points for this being Pokémon but better!

Couple of complaints though: The collisions in the bushes, trees and sometimes on the ground itself are a bit off and you can get stuck easily. It also isn't obvious where to find the trainer when you have to go through bushes whereas you can't really pass through any other obstacles prior, so it should have been just an open road leading to the trainer. Also, the timing to execute the trainer's commands is a bit short and unforgiving, or maybe that's just me

Anyway, an impressive game. If you and/or your team would like to continue working on this game, any other gamejam, or even a separate full title, I'd be honoured to be able to join you! ^_^

Thanks for playing and the feedback! Bushes don't have collision except in the tutorial where you're expected to use a dash to get through them, weird. Oh well, if we ever decide to come back to this I'll keep all of that in mind.

AYYYYY ANOTHER POKEMON GAME LETSGOOOO (we made something similar but turn based lol)

the presentation was super cute!!  the scratch and flame dash effects felt super polished and juicy.  great job!

This game is amazingly made! Extremely creative and really nice artstyle! the only thing I didn't like was how it was hard to tell when some enemies were going to attack, but that can easily be fixed!

this is a cool game i just wish there was a timer that starts after the new wish appears and lasts like 1 second before the game starts enforcing it

Submitted(+1)

Cute art, trainer is an idiot.

Imagine being a bear and being beaten up by a cat.

Game seems to have gotten stuck. Screen just shakes every couple of seconds, no more commands, no more enemies, it's been like that for over 10 minutes.

very cute art style

Great concept, art and almost there with the execution.

It would be helpful if there was a timer to let you know how long you've got to do an action before it's considered disobedience as it seems to vary, and it would be nice if getting knocked back by attacks didn't fail the "don't move" commands.

Great job, would love to see a polished version.

literally same lol

Very cute! Great job on the visuals and idea, really ambitious for a 48 jam! Good job!

Liked the graphics and concept that your trainer might not be that smart in battle. Also liked the details when you attack your trainer.

Developer

WOOO someone finally found that detail!
