The screen was moving so much I literally didn't know what was happening xd
That was really tightly polished and juicy! Nicely done! I would suggest perhaps there should be a momentary invulnerability when switching back and forth so you have a split second to move away from any overlapping obstacles, and also limit how often or for how long you can toggle. Otherwise great work!
Is there an end to the level or is it just an endless wave?
Just an endless wave, although I'm thinking about changing that for the future!
awesome, i survived for a while, at some point it felt like it was never gunna end and i was just curious if it actually did, then i die.
Fun arcady shooting game! Easy to pick up and play! The screen shake was a bit too intense, but overall good job!
Fun game, get's really chaotic towards the end.
Funny and great looking game with graphics and changing music fitting the theme. After understanding game logic, I had great time playing. If you like to improve something, maybe less camera shake and slower start to teach player.
Interesting game but it's a bit annoying to have to go to the ghost dimension to mark the ghost, then come back to mark the body. Makes so that when you are killing ghosts you are going back and forth between dimensions doing what I felt like was little progress. Cool game though!
This game is really neat, I like the glowing colors, and I appreciate that there is a health system. One tip that might help make a small improvement is: when an enemy is shot, you can pause for an instant on the single frame. GMTK often mentions that technique in his videos -- it really lets the play know they scored a hit, and it lets you reduce the screen shake a little bit too.
Anyway, this is still a cool game. You seem like you know how to develop and execute on an idea so I hope you consider my feedback!
Wasn't gonna reply to any comments but I really just wanna say that I definitely will add that (and that I'm quite upset I totally forgot about it hehe). Thanks a lot for your response!
Great idea! Like the best games do, this game made me develop a strategy: shoot the enemies as far away from me as possible so their bodies dont get stuck in the middle where I need to move.
The art was also fantastic, haven't seen any game in this style yet.
Although the music is great one thing you should work on is the sound fx. The sound effect that plays when killing an enemy is a bit too loud.
Other than that, good job man!
Shooting feels great! Learning how to switch between the two worlds felt nice in the beginning too. I wanted to be able to keep the spirit world clean by fighting enemies one at a time, but they came too quickly for me to get rid of given the long process. One cool move I was able to do was to fire a blue and then a purple bullet at a far away enemy, then switch into the spirit world when the blue hit them, purple shoot them in the spirit world, then switch back to let the first purple bullet finish them off. With a bit of balance this could be awesome!
Fun game to play! :D
However I did stop playing as the screen shakes a bit too much... could definitely do without it! xD
Very neat and fresh concept of the spirit world, I did not see it in similar games, it makes the experience way more interesting. Great art and sound as well, it all really fits together!
One suggestion, as others mentioned, a bit less of a screen shake would make the game even better :D
Such a good idea, there is a real try hard potential in it ! However the screen shake makes it pretty hard to play in my opinion.
It's a nice game however the switching mechanic isn't intuitive. It is a bit tedious having to go through 3 steps to kill 1 enemy, and you can only do one enemy at a time. I reckon if you had it so you can do more than 1 at a time, it'd feel a lot better.
This game looks very cool, and I love the change in music/overall vibe as you transition between real world and spirit world.
Maybe I'm just bad at this type of game, but it felt like the number of enemies ramped up way faster than I could handle, especially given the three-step process required to kill an enemy for real. All of my playthrus were basically: I kill the first few guys and then get completely overwhelmed by a zillion enemies. Maybe the game needs a slower ramp-up to full mayhem mode. It is also pretty overwhelming that for every single enemy you need to go through a whole process to kill it for real. I wonder if maybe it would make sense to have enemies/obstacles of some sort that DON'T need to be three-step killed so you can create the level of mayhem I think you're going for without it rapidly becoming totally unmanageable.
Overall though it's a neat idea with a very cool presentation and style. Grats on the jam submission!
Great look and game feel.
Liked the Switching Mechanic! this game is hard but very fun.
Great back and forth mechanic! I think adding a mechanic where you can see the positions of enemies/bullets are in the other world could make the game very interesting.
I really like how you can change between the living world and the spirit world. I think this matches perfectly with the jam's theme.
The mechanic that you can only mark one ghost in the spirit world felt a bit stressful. Because you have to switch back and forth all the time.
Despite that i really enjoyed your game. Good job.
