I love the concept. The story was simple but had some really interesting dialog options. Gameplay was smooth and I was really happy that I was able to play the mage :D Music and atmosphere were spot on. Amazing for 48 hours.

It's a real shame this game was only rated 16 times so far. It's one of the most complete experiences in the whole gmtk2021jam! Theme fitting to the fullest, great learning curve, solid controls, the emotional rollercoaster is solid. What else can I say? Loved it.

Wow this is seriously impressive! The level of polish and amount that must have gone into this is crazy! The combat was fun and I like the link between the two both with gameplay and in their relationship and the visuals are really nice, great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! It was a big crunch! We finished the build on the last ~20 minutes, it was craaazy. Thanks for your kind words!

The presentation was quite well done, I'm amazed what you managed to pull off in just 48hrs! And the take on the theme is really good, the connection between the sisters both in gameplay and through dialogue and the way that dialogue affects said gameplay, it all comes together in one really nice package. Definitely up there in my favorite takes on the theme this jam, fantastic work!

Thank you! We're happy that you enjoyed it, your kind word will help us on restoring our souls from the big crunch that it was to finish it in time! hahah

The art in this game was simply stunning. The 2D art was great and the lighting on the 3D models helped to sell the mood perfectly. I love how the theme was dually represented both by the characters having to be joined together to escape but also the narrative implications of two siblings rejoining to heal old wounds. The enemy design was great and I'm supper impressed that your team could pull all of this off in 48 hours! Bravo!

If you get the chance, check out my game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot Ian! Yeah, since the beginning we thought about adding some sort of lightning system as the game was already planned to be in a "torment night", so the lightning system was there mainly to create this tensions where you have to run from enemies which pops up from the shadows! Then as suggested by Narciso (our artist), we added a rain effect to create an even more dark mood.

I'll surely take a look at your game!

Did I see that you not only created a narrative-based game, but you also translated it in 48 hours??? That's awesome! Amazing job!

Also, I love the narrative piece and that it kinda reflected the mechanics of the game. For a while I kept trying to kill my sister's monsters for her, but after a while I realized that I actually needed to trust her in order to get through the forest in time. And once I did that, the game because easier and more fun!

Speaking of the sister, you guys did an excellent job programming her AI. She never got in my way and never got herself into so much danger that I couldn't get her out. She wasn't annoying at all and was actually super helpful for getting out of a few tight situations. It felt like I was playing with another intelligent human! Some AAA games have had trouble with sidekick characters, but you guys nailed it - in 48 hours!

Really excellent game - one of my favorites so far of this jam! Great job!

Wow, thanks a lot for such kind words! Yes, we did all that in 48 hours. It was a great rush!!!

We originally wrote the text in Portuguese -- our mother language, but for participating in a jam, it needed to be in English. David and Margella were responsible for all text and translations.

I was the soloist programmer in the jam, and as you saw, there are lots of intricate systems that I needed to code. Lightning, Combat, Movement, AI, Dialogue, Morales system, Game Design, Level Design, it was craaaazy. Unfortunately, there are some things that could have been better polished if I wasn't coding alone. But I'm very happy that you liked the Warrior AI! Yes, I tried making her to not bother you too much! Also, as she is a warrior, she has more HP, so she can deal with some monsters on her own for a while, and sometimes she will indeed help you.

The artist also had to model loooooooots of stuff, and all 2D art (characters pictures, dialogues, UI) was all made by him.

The musician created 2 musics and lots of SFX, which fit perfectly!

We are very proud, even though I would lake to have done a better game design.

Again, thanks a bunch for your kind words! =D

Really nice game. I especially enjoyed the fact that not only are we linked in terms of gameplay but also in terms of plot and story, good stuff. I hope that you will develop it further, because even though it has some great ideas, none of those are really polished in my opinion, which is obviously understandable for a jam game. I also think that combat could be a bit improved, it felt pretty shallow. Other than that, good idea for a game and amount of work done in only 48h is just amazing!

Developer(+2)

Thanks a lot, we're happy that you liked it!

Yeaaaah, the systems are not polished, it was a lot of stuff to do, so we had no time to iterate many times over the stuff! With a slightly bigger team, we could have made it! The original Combat design was focused on "kidnapping" -- some monsters would carry the characters away (like Resident Evil 4) and the other sister would have to help.

I also wanted to create a lightgningbolt (stun in area) and a ground wall (protection), but yeah, it was a lot of stuff already for the 48 hours.

Again, thanks for the kinds words! =))

This game looks gorgeous, and I love how the narrative is tied to gameplay effects. Well done!

Thanks for playing our game! =)))

I don't know what's the point of the Camera moving north, and when the characters are out of the camera's view. I can still walk around freely like I'm in an open world game and never return to the Camera again lol. I did returned to the Camera and my partner with a Sword never returned to me LOL. Idk if that's a bug or a feature in your game, but I hope you make an update and fix this issue.  I like the combat, but my favorite is the dialogue/ moral system.

Developer(+1)

Hey! Yeah, I added some code for blocking characters from moving out of the screen, but there were issues regarding the AI. As a soloist programmer in this jam, I had Movement, AI, Dialogues, UI, Lightning, Combat, Moral and most of the Game/Level design on me, so indeed there are low polishing in some parts! Like this camera thing

I'm sad to hear that the Warrior didn't return do you! That's a rare bug, I was hoping it wouldn't block anyone

Thanks for playing our game and for your feedback! =))

Too bad, maybe after the Jam I can get the chance to play that new update. Keep it up :)

Bro! This game doesn't feel like it was made in 2 days. With this kind of gameplay, music, and story it feels like it's a steam-ready game. And I really love the lighting.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! Yeah, it was a rush to make all of those things and put them together in two days. We appreciate your kind words!

"And so they mode on ... together!" Great game, enjoyed everything about it. Can't understand why you have so few ratings. Your game should have much more attention in this Jam.

Developer(+1)

Ahhh you made it to the end! Thanks you so much for the feedback. I hope the game gets more views, we really loved the characters and atmosphere.

Cheers!

Submitted(+1)

Yeah - hope so too. You put so much effort into this. He is playing & rating right now - maybe you are lucky and win one of the draws https://www.twitch.tv/vimlark

Developer

Ohh, thanks a lot dude! Didn't know that =))

That's an awful lot to get done for a 3d game in 48 hours. Love the visuals!

Developer

Yeah hahaha, we did lots of Art, Narrative, Sound design and coding (many intrinsic systems) in this jam. It was a rush (it always is xD)

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Submitted(+3)

It has so many things to take into consideration, visuals, gameplay, history, how all this is combined and presented, but in general i really enjoyed the experience of playing it. I think that the problem is that you tryed to put a lot of different things into the game, and this leads to a feeling of emptyness. Maybe becase neither the history nor the gameplay are polished. Anyways it is a very enjoyable game, wondering why it has so few ratings.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

Yeah, it ended having lots of systems in the game. I was the solo programmer so it was hard to tie it all together in such small amount of time.

We were satisfied with the result, but I agree with you that it lacks polishing! We could have reduced the amount of intricate systems, or I could have found another coder :P

Anyways, we're happy that you enjoyed playing it =))

You are welcome! Would you mind telling me what do you think of my game? I would really appreciate that a  dev who made such amazing visuals gives me feedback

Developer

Sure thing. I'll also send your game to my team if they wanna test and rate it ^^

Submitted(+2)

I don't know what to say XD
i liked the art and loved the music. Didn't understand gameplay

Developer(+1)

Hey! Thank you for playing.
You have to maintain a good relationship between the two sisters making good dialogue choices
The better the relationship is, the bigger is the Light that they carry, and the more HP they have!
Then, use that to fight with the monsters (left mouse button). Survive, and protect the Warrior ^^
