Its a cool game concept i bet you could create a sick game out of that!

I think once the laces are connected in some way this will be a really awesome idea, good job!

It's not really clear from a mechanical perspective why the laces need to be part of the same shoe. It would have been interesting if the laces somehow influenced each other, like if they can't cross over each other, or if advancing one pulls on the other, etc.

The game's concept is very nice, and the art with sounds and music is also nice. The game needs more mechanics, the levels are just a question of trial and error. Otherwise, good game!

I loved the concept of snaking out your shoelaces from a central shoe, it was very original. I loved the pixel art and can appreciate how well the shoe looks (since I am very bad at drawing shoes, hehe). Everything was clear and easily readable. Another commenter already mentioned this, but I agree that having the lace share the same length would open up more ideas for layouts and future gimmicks. Otherwise this was a short and sweet little game that I enjoyed!

By the way, we played your game on our stream last night!

Thank you for your feedback and I really enjoyed watching you play the game :D

Thank you for the kind words :D

I think this is a really awesome take on the theme and the vibe of the game is super chill. Like others have said making the amount of moves shared would add a lot of depth.  Something else to consider would be having the maps join up and not allowing the laces to pass through each other which would make it harder to tell which lace goes to which coin. I think this game has awesome potential if you keep working on it!

Nice concept, art and music. liked playing it. you can make more complex levels and use pathfinding algorithm for one lace to compete with player controlling other lace.

Submitted(+2)

The concept is nice, but there doesn't really seem to be any puzzle here. It's basically just "find the shortest path". Maybe the maximum length between the two shoelaces could be combined instead of separate. When one shoelace reaches max length, it has to pull the other shoelace back into the shoe to go further. There also needs to be some sort of other mechanic, maybe buttons that open doors, or pushable crates, or multiple things you need to cover with one shoelace to beat the level. As-is, there isn't really any substance here.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I only realized that there wasn't any mechanics to make the level more interesting in the last few hours if the jam. Still I've learned a lot from this and had tons of fun.

I liked the idea of using string for the puzzles and having clear information on how many steps can I take (information horizon).

Maybe on a new iteration you can setup the dungeon like a messy floor with things dropped in the ground.

Developer

Yeah I've learned a lot about level design through the process of making this game and hopefully next I do a better job of it (:

Very cool idea, its actually a unique take on the theme good job

Developer

Thanks for the feedback (:

Really great concept, I love the idea of playing as shoelaces! I really liked the art, and it was super satisfying to beat this game. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much. Really appreciate the feedback.

I really like the idea. I think it would be nice if both laces share the maximum length, i.e. a move on once lace shortens the possible moves on the other. Also Some more challenging puzzle elements would have been nice.

Developer

Definitely. If I were to continue making this game, making the laces share the length would help so much with the levels. Thanks for your feedback (:

Cool game, if you set space as changing lace it can improve the gameplay, good art too.

Developer

Yeah I wish I could have done more play testing during the jam. Hopefully next time (:

The game is good! The concept isn't very intuitive I wish you mixed it up with some more content.

I also wished for some music. But the execution is good,

Good job finishing it on time!

A pretty fun and chilled out puzzle game with a very unique style, I'd love to see more of it, great job!

Submitted(+1)

I liked the art style and the feel of the game, but I don't see much potential if the entire puzzles are just finding the shortest path. I think you should add some more mechanics to make the puzzles more challenging. The levels you made took 2 tries at most to finish. Good work!

@DahamBelpage Very original idea, SFX and music are good too, level designs were good too, I recommend you to expand on this idea and make a more polished art, but overall excellent work :D

great concept :). relaxing gameplay paired with chill tunes and sounds. want more levels now.

I really liked the framing of this as shoelaces, it's a great interpretation of the theme. I also like the lace pixel art on the shoe. Level design could use some work and it would've been cool to see one side pulling back the other, but those just seem like time limit things. Good work!

Developer

The bad level design was mostly due to me not having designed levels for a game before and having the lace pull at each other was a feature I had in mind from the start but just didnt have enough time to do it.
