How does your game fit the theme?
The Gloops join together when hit, becoming stronger and worth more points to the player. This encourages players to think about the best order to destroy the Gloops.

Shoutouts to Lorenzo Linguini for truckin' through it all. I like twists on classic games, and the interference from the bullets was certainly unexpected!

I kinda wish the elements were a bit bigger, though, it was hard to see the incoming bullets. The bumper was also pretty small and a bit too quick, making it easy to overshoot the spot you want to move it too. I think it might be cool if the enemy bullets could glob onto the ball to make it bigger and/or stronger somehow. I think there are lots of opportunities to flesh out the gameplay by making some more interaction between the bullets and the ball.

Im a bit confused as to how this is joined together.

There was random collision that didn't make sense.

I did however, like that the image moved when the ship did. I thought it was a super cute game.

Space invaders meets brick breaker! The art is very cute, and I love the theming. However, I don't feel like the game fit the game jam's theme very well. The game functions as if you're simply breaking the blocks, and enraging the others. A small tweak may have helped this- if there was just an animation of the bricks glooping together, it might feel more like a "joined together" game.

My main complaint is that the bullets are just too small, fast-moving, and numerous. It quickly becomes impossible to keep track of them, and you're not playing a game where your ball is bouncing off enemy bullets so much as you're playing a game where your ball changes direction randomly.

Totally agree! Our plan was to have the blue goopy explosion overlap on the other Gloops, making it look like they were meshing together, but I don't think it sold it quite enough. Your points about the bullets make sense, too. Thanks for playing our game!

Love the art! I had a great time with this game. :)

Thanks so much Savannah! It was a ton of fun to work on. I'm very grateful my jam partner covered the programming so I could doodle all weekend!

The art is extremely good! However I think the gameplay could use a bit more tweaking.

Some things to consider for a post jam build if you do one:

- The text at the very top for Score and High Score is tiny! Especially on my high resolution monitor.

- When I just barely hit the ball it gets caught in my collision box and makes an awful sound. What this ought to do is instead (in my opinion) is act as if I bounced the ball up. Essentially, cheat in the player's favor.

- I had a few instances where the ball just bounced back and forth in the exact same two spots in a sort of deadlock. The bullets helped break me out of it but it wasn't fun. I wonder if you can some way detect that that's happening and break out of it automatically?

- The ball bouncing off the bullets is a really great twist! But the bullets are really hard to see against the background. I think they should be a bit bigger and have a more contrasting color from the background. They should be visible in thumbnail screenshots of the game. Also consider experimenting with bullets of different shapes.

- I noticed bullets bounce off the paddle but that didn't feel like it made any meaningful impact. I wish that the bullets bouncing off did... something. I'm not sure what that is, maybe that's a place where you can introduce another mechanic? Just a thought.

Whew, sorry for the wall of text. I guess I had a lot of thoughts!

Thanks so much for the feedback. We noticed some of the same things you did, and definitely want to address it after the jam is over! I love your ideas, and my jam partner and I both really enjoyed Function Conjunction. Best of luck!

I LOVE the art on the driver in the corner. The Gloops also have panache.

I don't get a strong feeling, though, of this fitting with the theme.

Gotta agree! We weren't able to execute our original dream with our limited programming knowledge, so we had to try and cram in theme when we could. I'm glad you enjoyed the art and the game, though!
