Nice! My team was actually thinking of doing the same thing at the start of the jam, I'm really glad to see someone went with this concept!

Well done, great execution! Congrats on your game!

This is a really fun idea! I've always liked the little-used mechanic of remembering spells by name, like in ZORK. The one major problem, and unfortunately it kept me from playing very long, is that almost every spell requires the letter "F," and there is *no way* to get letters except by killing enemies. (I found enemies casting "wa**" and "t**n**i", and briefly looked through the list of spells in you actions script, but I ran out of those letters pretty soon as well.) Also, if you happen to be stuck at the very beginning, I couldn't find a replacement for "fast."

All in all, I really want to play this. Please consider giving it a post-jam release! It's a cool idea, a cute character, and a fun element of exploration- hearing an enemy cast a spell by name and then immediately trying it out myself is a terrific feeling!

Good luck, and thanks for submitting!

I was aware of the "F" problem, too, but I was having so many issues with getting things to work that I couldn't solve it in time :(. I barely had enough time to get the game functional, so I kinda had to drop... well, good game design. I'm considering working on this more over the summer, but I was working on another game before summer started that I think I should polish up first. I seem to make a habit of making games without ever polishing and getting juice in any of them. I'm really glad you enjoyed it despite it's obvious flaws, though!

Really neat idea for a game. I liked the idea of learning the spells from monsters trying to cast them at you. However, I got stuck because I didn't know how to increase my jump height, and I didn't want to waste letters to expirement. I also couldn't really figure out how to get letters back. Execution could have been a little better, too--just a Unity file as a little frustrating to figure out.

Keep up the good work. If this was polished up, it could be a really cool game.

Yeah, sorry about that. I bit off a bit more than I could chew, so I wasn't able to implement everything on time and I believe the build didn't work. I had to rush the tutorial, so even though I implemented it so that an invalid word would return your letters, there was no way for the player to tell. I've made games before, but as this is my first jam, I REALLY didn't know how to handle the time crunch. But thanks for putting in the effort to actually open the game and I'm glad you liked the idea!

I think it was a great first jam, then. I'm glad I played it.  The crunch is really weird. This was probably my 6th game jam or something and I'm still not good at managing my time.
