Cracking good game! Well presented, great concept (although I've seen it before, but not this well executed). I love this kind of setup/test gameplay loop.

Found a fair few bugs. All forgivable given the time constraints and how complete the game is. Only one that really affected gameplay was where my minion was killed by nothing in one specific place in the map. He'd have been heading towards spikes, but I'm pretty sure he shouldn't have been killed in the space next to them!

Would be a good feature to add saving your layout, so you don't have to start from scratch after completing it. Makes going for better ratings a little arduous.

Great writing too, on the itch.io game page.

Developer

Aw man, thanks so much for leaving such a thought-out comment! Ah, yeah, apologies for the bugs. I tried to list the big ones on the game page, but there're definitely a few still out there. So glad you enjoyed the writing! Out of all the things I worked on, admittedly the writing was the most fun!

Just had another idea for a UX tweak: Maybe show the number of blocks required for each rating. Could be as simple as a line under the blocks on the right that shows where the limits are. I'm guessing this will get more dev work - it's too good to waste!

Great game design here. I'm surprised yall were able to make so many levels in such a short time! Could definitely see this being expanded upon with more environmental obstacles or aids. Great job guys!

Developer

Hey, thanks! Having a team definitely helped with the division of labor, otherwise we wouldn't have made it this far.

Love the art style. The gameplay is simple but really well designed!

Developer

Man, that's great to hear. Thanks for the feedback!

Very nice. Nice change of pace in the sea of wacky controls. :P

Developer

Thanks! Haha, glad to hear that.

Awesome game! solutions make sense and its very fun to try different options.

Developer

Ah, that's good to hear! Thank you very much!

Wow. This game is fantastic. Very nice 1 bit art style, super clever puzzle design allowing for multiple solutions. This could definitely be successful as a commercial release.

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

So glad you enjoyed the open-ended puzzles! They were a bit tricky to design, but we think they were more than worth it in the end. And thank you for the words of encouragement! We definitely hope it'll succeed as well!

This is one of my favorites until now!

Developer(+1)

That's so great to hear!

Neat little puzzle game. The levels are well-designed and the modular difficulty through the skull rating system keeps you engaged.

Next time(or when you release the full version of the game) you should probably use "Space" instead of "Enter". It's more intuitive so you probably don't even have to explain the controls that way.

Developer(+1)

Oh man, what a great analysis. And yeah, absolutely! This build definitely needed another UX check, but we ran out of time in the end. Thank you for the feedback!

I really liked this game. The implementation of the "Out of Control" prompt was really nice and I enjoyed trying to solve the puzzles. I would defintely love a full version of this game. Also, the art style was amazing, even compared to games that weren't made in 48 hours.

Well done!

Developer

We were a bit worried about the prompt being represented clearly so that's great to hear! And the team is definitely set on working on a proper release, so look forward to that in the next couple of weeks!

I liked this game very much ! It’s minimalist, the map is well designed and the puzzles were intelligent. Good job !

Developer

Hey, thanks a lot! We really appreciate the comment.

Nice puzzle! i really like automation system so creative.
i will kept this idea for my future game.
also the art! even it's 2 color but it feel Nice and Classic.

Soo cool!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the game. We were definitely shooting for a "classic" style with the art, so that's great that it resonated with you! Thanks for dropping a comment, the team really appreciates it!

There's no tutorial so I struggled to figure out what to do for a while and also I still have no idea how to get the three skulls? Otherwise the levels I played were fun and the pixel art and music was dope.

Developer

Ah, sorry about that! We couldn't fit a tutorial into the final build. Our intention was to have people look at the game page for instructions on how to play. It's definitely not clear though; it could use another re-write. Thanks for the feedback!

Really cool game! The puzzles got pretty challenging and the replay feature is a clever way to make the player out of control.

Good job!

Developer

Ah, great to hear! Thanks for the feedback!

The art and sound in this game is fantastic! I love the idea of placing the level for the character to walk on and the levels were excellently designed. My only issue was it was very hard to get all 3 skulls, but overall a great game.

Developer

It's a bit challenging to get all 3 skulls, especially since two levels are bugged in this build! With that said, thank you for the review! Much appreciated.

This game is so frickin good, The art is so nice and I loved the concept so much! Definately the best game i’ve played in this jam so far

Developer

Wow, thank you so much! Really appreciate that.

this game had a great concept and was put together in a interesting way but it was way to hard to get the 3 skulls for all levels. overall you did a great job

Developer

Agreed. We definitely need to take another crack at the difficulty curve. Thank you for the feedback!

(+1)

Unique concept and well put together. Enjoyed the challenge of completing each level using the least amount of blocks. Music was too loud.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, it was definitely someone's job to tweak the audio before submitting (it was mine. Sorry about that!).

Submitted(+1)

this game is super polished. art assets look nice, audio is clean, has a lot of great level designs.

i tried my best to get full scores for every level but the second and last two levels really had me beat. on the second to last level there is a spike tile that just appears to be invisible for me, which i only figured out was there because i died on it and couldn't place my own block over it. i'm not even sure i can get a full score on that level as long as that tile kills me. okay, i read the game description all the way through. glad to know it's already been noted, i guess i just wasn't smart enough for that last level!

overall this is definitely the best game i've reviewed for the jam so far, i would love to see this built upon in the future

Developer

Apologies for not updating the description sooner! That one snuck by us during develpoment. And thank you very much for the kind words, we really appreciate it!

Wowow! This is incredible. Love the levels. The skeleton guy is so cute too! Really hope you guys make more levels for fun because I would love to play more.

Developer

Thank you very much! We're planning on developing the game further over the next couple of weeks, so look forward to that!

Submitted(+1)

It was really good! And a great concept. I think its a big bogged down by lack of control instructions in game as well as the graph on the bottom not lining up with the main game.

Developer

Glad you liked the concept! Hard agree, we definitely didn't have enough time to get everything in... But thank you for the feedback!
