Interesting concept! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

Thanks for Playing! I checked the video along with some other videos in the series, keep the good job!

Interesting idea, reminds me of some robotics-for-kids stuff I did as a kid, but the execution seems a bit lacking to me.  Felt a bit too guess-and-check, between the fact that you can't look around without actually moving, the fact that you have to reset before you can drag new instructions, and the fact that as far as I can tell you have to use decimals, which means that you can't just see "oh that looks like a 2-second wide space" and put in a 2 and expect it to just work.  Also wish it were possible to insert new instructions between other instructions.

Ideas for improvement: Making the whole thing grid-based would take out some of the guess-and-check aspect, but it might make it too easy.  Or putting a timer on-screen so you can see how many seconds have passed when you want to jump.  Or you could go further with the teaching-people-how-to-program-ish aspect and add loops and conditionals, and puzzles that require using those.

Haha ! I made it :D

Nice game, lot of possible improvement but that's really cool ! (Maybe something to check the level before playing it but I saw that it's not in the game because of the lack of time, maybe improving the level design, some new features but it's still a really good game :D )

Congrats ! :)

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it :)

I like the game. The way my player landed on the old checkpoint near the end, I totally saw that coming.

Developer

Glad you liked it, but I'm not sure what you mean by "the old checkpoint"

Submitted(+1)

When you fall from the platforms near the end of the game, it is possible to trigger the checkpoint below it setting your progress back. Are you trying to tell me that was unintentional? Personally I thought it was really cool.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It was absolutely unintentional lol

Submitted(+1)

I suggest you keep it in, it kind of reminds me of Getting Over It.

Cool idea and well implemented.
Regarding the gameplay it would have been a benefit to the user interface to be able to rearrange the commands as I found myself having to delete several of them in order to add a new one in the middle meaning I had to remember what I just got rid of.
Also I found myself having to do a lot of trial and error in decimal increments, I wasn't sure if that was intentional?
I very much enjoyed what I played however and I do think what you've done works really well, I'd have no idea how to code something like that!

FYI I got to the second checkpoint and there was error message from unity when I tried to continue past that flag. It happened when I put a LEFT command in and pressed START. Just thought you should know.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it :)

I have no idea what might be causing the error message you got, the code for the game is spaghetti as hell, I didn't have the time to write efficient code; I just wrote something that works :(
But I will try my best to solve it

Submitted(+1)

I know what you mean, I did the exact same thing with my code. Least important part during a game jam though ;)

I thought this was pretty good.

Some nitpicks though: I found the tutorial to be a bit too slow, and since it did everything for you rather than telling you what to do it was a bit annoying and unhelpful. My only other nitpick is that I thought it would be good to have a full overview of the level rather than the follow camera forcing the player to go through some of it, then reset once they know what the next obstacle is - I would like the ability to theoretically get it right first time with no resets.

It's great that you got something submitted, and it seems well-finished. Good luck with future projects!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it :)

I'll definitely add the features you talked about once the rating period ends; I already had them in mind but I didn't have time to implement them :(

I like the idea and the style. Would have liked it to be a bit faster though. Other than that, great entry!

Submitted(+1)

Would be good to see further so player can plan ahead and don't need to die just to learn 1 step.

A lot of trial and error, and game is too slow for a game that you need to die this much to know the map.

challenge is still feel good when finish the game.

It is a very nice design, I liked the pink visual but this is very difficult for me because I have to create many commands and I execute this commands then it move only a little and then I need to start again with new commands. Sometime it was frustrating to not be able to continue from the same position just to change a little the value of a command. But on the other side, this was a challenging game and it was satisfying to reach a checkpoint !

Some things could definitely be improved: a way to see the entire map; fast foward; hability to place movements before reseting and a soundtrack. But the concept is very, very good and you did a great job! Keep working on it!

Submitted(+1)

Really like the concept! Works nicely. Would be nice to see some QOL features, like fast forward, or being able to look around the environment more to plan your route, but with a bit of work this could be a really solid game!

Submitted

Nice game and interesting concept! My only issue is that it's hard to plan out the characters movements as you can't see the environment ahead during the planning phase. Despite that, it was a really good entry. Good job!

It would be nice for you to check out my submission as well.

Thanks for the feedback <3

I'll definitely check your game out asap

Really nice game!! I love the graphics as well. The tutoriall was a bit long in my opinion

Really cool game, creative idea. I love the minimalistic art and the visual effects, nice use of sfx too, it would be awesome to include a chill background music. The mechanics are a good idea, it really could help little kids to understand a bit of programming and get interested of it.

Great work!

Submitted(+1)

A zoom out to view the whole level would be great! Love the concept :) Congrats for the submission.

Submitted(+1)

I like it! Not terribly original, but still pretty fun. The green wind particles floating by as you play are a real nice touch. I got pretty far, I wonder how close I was to the end.

Submitted(+1)

Hey cool game! I like the minimalistic art style!. There are a few things that I found anoying. First is that I'm not able to explore the level first, so I'm forced to fail, which is not cool. You could let the player explore the level  but not set instructions while doing so for example. That'd make the player work bye memory. The other thing is that the "seconds" per action is not really intuitive. Maybe draw some units on the flor or make it steps or something. That's all I can say of it, great job! Really nicely done! Congrats!

Submitted(+1)

I think this could be used as some sort of an intro to programming tool for kids. Really cool!

Submitted(+1)

Hey Safwan,

I like the concept. Reminds me of SpiritRover by Sebastian Lague for the xkcd game jam.

Like other commenters, speed up the tutorial and give the chance to skip.

If you are improving on this i would improve the art from mvp.

If you had the time I would love it if you tried my game and rated it. Its called Drone.

Developer

For the art I'm not sure I can do better, I'm not an artist and I don't have a drawing tablet :(

I'll definitely check your game when I have the time <3

Submitted(+1)

i really enjoyed the sound and art a lot. i kinda would have wished the tutorial wasn't that long, because i didnt control what was happening and because of that i thought i ddid something wrong :D still a very nice game! I had a lot of fun playing it!
