Very cool approach to a deeper take on the theme, and the world. The function of the camera is especially interesting. As you zoom out, you find yourself powerless to help many people with your limited resources. Better to focus them on people near you. Plus, when you are in trouble, your view shrinks back down as you can no longer look after others for the moment. Nice work!
I love a good Conway's Game of Life. A really good idea, and matches well with the theme. My only issue is it ramps up way too fast.
