Beautiful looking game, and fun concept. Having no control in the air was just a nuisance, and didn't add anything beneficial to the game I felt haha.

I do love the world you've created. If you re-used these assets in a future game, I'd be inclined to play it. It's a world I felt like exploring.

Developer

Thank you for the really kind review.
I'm tempted to try to continue development on a game like this.
The assets are definitely a nice touch, and taking the bit of code out of the player controller I made that will enable air movement will feel great.
I'll talk to my buddy and see what he thinks.

Cool idea and game! Would add to the comments about the jump.

A pleasant platformer. Player controls could be smoother, and it might be nice to allow the player to get used to them a little longer, solving more platforming problems, before changing the jump height etc to add variety. Reversed gravity was a nice touch.

love the look! i know the "no air control" was intended for the theme of the jam, but ultimately i think the game feel would benefit from having it added in

Not bad! I feel like it  would've been cool if it played explored one or two of the "powers" more rather than introducing a bunch of stuff and then just ending. It also would have been nice if the particles were more "descriptive" for lack of a better word. Like it was obvious what the gravity one did and I liked that, but by the fifth level, I was like, "wait, what does green do again?"

Still a finished product, though! And there's something to be said for that.

Really nice pixelart and character animation!

The gameplay feels great too.

Great game! Nice job!

Cool concept and the graphics, music, and gameplay are great

Among all the different platformers present in this jam I think I liked this one the most. It isn't too difficult, has a sense of humor, and the art style is interesting. Some more polishing and fixing to the jumping would definitely help. Good job overall!

Developer

Thank you for the kind review. It was my first real attempt at a platformer, and I wanted to attempt to make it interesting. A 48 hour game jam makes you realize just how much time 48 hours really isn't when we're talking about game production.

Really cool concept, love the reverse gravity idea and all the art is really awesome!

Two things though - 1. Jump is a little too floaty and 2. When jumping, you cant turn left or right which is fine if that's what your going for but i feel there should be a little bit of movement allowed.

Overall really awesome game I hope you continue working on it, I wanted to play more!

Moon-like jumping was a little bit clunky. Also I'm so used to be able to change character direction mid-air in platformers that it felt so weird not to (but hey, not all platformers have to behave the same, right?).

Other than that - nice job ;)

The art is great! I liked the game, especially the reversing gravity. The jumping felt a bit too floaty though. The comments in the levels were a nice touch!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I didn't want to be too cheesy with the comments throughout the levels, but I felt like it helped the game feel a little bit less "empty" overall.

Lot's of mechanics but needs focus. As others have said it isn't obvious what is currently affecting you.  And level to level transition are really sudden.

Controls are floaty and you can't move horizontally after jumping if you hit a wall even when you are not in contact with the wall. That needs to be fixed.

The pixel art is really cute.

Music could be great with a more ambient background music focus. Right now, it's too quiet. It'd really feel like an adventure if there was SFX for leaves rusting as you move.

Overall, still a solid jam entry.

Developer

In response to "Controls are floaty and you can't move horizontally after jumping"

That was actually a completely intended feature as a form of control that the player does not have. I agree with all of the feedback, it's quite hard to polish a jam project within 48 hours, but all solid points.

Thank you for playing and leaving some solid feedback.

I got a sense of adventure playing this. You nailed the atmosphere and presentation.

It was a little difficult to remember what the different statuses did. Maybe you can add on screen indicators with icons during the effects?

Overall solid job, I enjoyed my time with the game!

Developer

Hey, thank you for giving our little game jam project a try.

I definitely agree some sort of UI to let you know what statuses you're currently effect by would be an awesome addition. Unfortunately with the 48 hour time limit some features made it, while others didn't.

a little confusing that yellow transmitters look like the end of the level, and the green transmitter at the top of the buttons level appears to act as a red transmitter, disabling the jump. but overall, fun!

Developer(+1)

Hey there.
Definitely agree, I tried to make the end of the level transmitters look a little bit more "Fountainy" with the particles. I just didn't have the time to hunt down different sprites for all of the transmitters.
Thanks for playing and leaving some feedback.

understandable! i really did enjoy the game c:

Cool concept! The controls felt pretty smooth. I especially liked the blue puddle that made you go quick so you can jump far. Great game!

Developer

Considering the time constraints, I most likely spent more time than I should have getting the controls and the players rigid body feeling how I wanted, glad to see that it translated to an enjoyable experience.
Thanks for playing and leaving some feedback.

The premise of altering controls, although generic, was implemented in such a way, that it creates a very satisfying experience! Besides the fact that you used borrowed art and assets, the game was overall very decent!

Developer

I agree that it felt generic. We weren't sure what direction to take the project in and I simply started coding a 2D platformer style character controller and we just rolled with it. earthmrskull came up with the little transmitter idea to change the controls, and we simply built levels around different statuses we coded.
Thanks for playing and leaving feedback, it's very appreciated.
