I feel like more large enemies would've helped, too many little ones mean waaay too many shots are being missed, and there are A LOT of the little buggers. Really dig the style though. Very polished.

Thank you very much for the feedback, I'll take that into account for the post-jam patch ;)

This was a very goods experience. I remember playing this game a few days ago, but playing it again with fresh eyes made it a whole different experience. Today I was able to get the aim of the game, and I really liked the atmosphere, it was terrifying indeed! It could have been way better if it had some music and sfx. The graphics looked really nice and the visual effects were outstanding!

Well done :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Sound and music will be added in a post-jam patch of course ;)

I was impressed with the light effects used in this game. It was really good. The shots got well done although I missed a few very silly shots and it made me open a giant hole in the wall and start getting in the bigger bugs. Maybe the objects would not break in the first shot would make the game more interesting.

Great game. I would like more weapons though. A machete would be fun. Kill monsters easy up close but would easily destroy a lot of blocks if not done right.
Maybe even sticky mines or something lol.

Only glaring thing needed is better platforming.

If you get a chance, check out my game: https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2019/rate/463297

Very interesting concept. I love that you made the graphics by yourself. Unfortunately, this will not be rated in this game jam... Would have been really nice to have some music or at least sound effects. But that's due to the time limit.

Here are some points that should be improved:

  • Jump height, as soon as you fall down, you are stuck at the lower level. You can't reach the higher level at all.
  • The aiming is off. It's a little higher then the mouse curser which led to destroying the walls when I aimed at something different.
  • I don't know why I loose when the monsters are in the room but not touching me. I'm totally save, but I loose.

I hope this feedback helps you improve the game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your honest feedback. Indeed the aiming is a little bit off, it has been corrected after the jam but not updated yet. I'm the first one sad of the lack of sound and music, but 48 hours is tight, it will sure be added after the jam. Sorry for not being clear in the game about two points:

  • You can use your arm to climb, which give you the ability to reach the highest level. Even with that, the jump is still not that high, you're right, I'll make sure to correct that.
  • The fail-state: There is no health system, you have to keep the room safe but you're not losing any kind of "life points". It's normal to lose if there are too many monsters entering the room. I might introduce some back-story to give an explanation to why it's working like that, but it's totally intentional.

This post-jam patch will make this game better and it will be in part thanks to honest and detailed feedback like that. Thanks and, have a nice day ;)

I'm always honest with my feedback, even if it means that I have to tell somebody that his game is shit. But I try to be as nice as possible, because I know that he/she was putting lots of work into it.

Really curious to see the post jam version ;)

Very interesting mechanic, great job on the destructible environments! The atmosphere felt tense, imagine with some scary music and sound effects for the monsters!

This one looks incredibly polished! Very clever to make shooting somewhat of a double edged sword. Great way to give the player a limit without restricting the amount of ammo. It was sometimes a bit awkward to navigate through the room, but thats just a minor problem hiccup. Nice result!

Scary game. At 1st I thought that I just need to shoot the aliens, later it was clear that I need to do it carefully to survive longer. Would have wanted to have a little more freedom to move around at the start.. but that can be fixed by sacrificing the room, by shooting it thou... so I guess it's mobility vs safety.

Is there sound in the game? For some reason I couldn't hear it - I ran linux version.

Developer

Thank you for your comment 😁 . As I explained on the game page, due to time constraints I wasn't able to add the sounds and musics. Which is sad for that type of game. But a post-jam patch will add all of this and more 😉

yup, my bad - didn't read the description before writing the feedback! It's a good game anyways :)

First of all the concept is super original.

I loved everything about this game! I like horror games in general to be honest so this was nice.

I loved that you have to be careful not to destroy the room, and the light field of view really made a great combination!

Hey, we made a godot game too! Check it out!

I like the atmosphere the graphics and the lighting created! The destructible environments are a great addition to prevent mindless shooting. Great job! :)

Wow this was really trippy! I wish the creatures weren't so cute. I wanted to cuddle them instead of shooting them. Ha ha ha!

I had very much fun playing this game! Thanks for making it!

This game looks very nice. It could be even more fun with random generated levels. I really missed the sounds though, they could really add to the atmosphere, or maybe just my version (Linux) was buggy?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the comment.  No I did not manage to make sound and music. It'll be added after the jam ...

I see, I'm looking forward to it! :)

That was really fun. I still don't know when does the room count as unsafe. The first time I played, I didn't know I can attack with the mouse and I survived for 1 minute 13 seconds, the second time I played, I spammed shooting and only survived for 39 seconds. The menu is really cool and the corroding environment idea is very nice since it discourages button mashing. Greatly done.

Submitted(+1)

I felt bad shooting them at first then the room started shaking and I just spammed that fire button! Nice idea, interesting visuals.

Those little guys are so cute XD Even when they're going out of control! I get that there's only one room, but gameplay wise the theme seems to take a backseat. It's pretty fun tho! And the visual presentation is very well done! Could have done with some audio feedback, but what you've got here is very good!

You really made me feel like I was been overwhelmed by a horde of angry monsters even without sound. It´s incredible how you manage to polish your game so much in just 48 hours. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, I'm glad you felt that immersed. It cost me a night of sleep 😴

The realization that shooting holes in the walls was giving them entry points was a very good moment, thank you for that.

Developer

You're welcome 😁

Strange, but it doesn't work on my Windows 10. Shows only Title and nothing more. No errors in the console.

Developer(+1)

Did you press "enter" while on the title screen?

Sure, I pressed every key on my keyboard =) The thing is that there is a title, then quick black screen blink, and once again title screen. No text about "Press enter  to enter The Last Safe Room".

DebugView says: [9140] FTH: (9140): *** Fault tolerant heap shim applied to current process. This is usually due to previous crashes. ***

So, probably some Godot issue...

Developer

Did you unpack all files in the same place ? Did you try to use compatibility modes ? Sorry about that I don't use windows, it's hard to debug ^^

The game works well and it looks nice (especially the intro), I really liked the floor breaking mechanic. I couldn't hear any sound, which I felt would make this game more fun. But your game looks like a normal endless game, so I don't think you did anything special with the theme.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback 🙂. I went with a " 'Only one' room so take care of it" concept.
