I love the little taily guy. Does he have a name?

All in all this is a lovely entry into the gamejam with respect to the time alloted (good idea to recycle the block sprite for slopes as well), but I would like to point out a few things for next gamejam that you could improve on :)

1) In level 3, why can't I push blocks over other blocks? It is such a staple in other block pushing games that it really caught me off-guard.

2) Everything feels really floaty: Speed goes from 0 to 100 and gravity is surprisingly low, which makes for some (frustratingly) surprising falling trajectories. To top that off: you can't change your falling trajectory which exacerbates the floaty feeling. Being able to correct trajectory mid-air would be more in line with modern platformers. This way it feels like an oldschool game, which I guess could be seen as a plus if done intentional.

3) The death animation, although (morbidly) cute, felt rally lengthy and I found myself skipping over it everytime with the reset button.

Did you already find out that if you get stuck in a switch wall you float up as if it were an escalator...?

About the puzzles itself, most were quite neat, others a bit on the simple side. I saw in another comment that the tail-holding-down button appears only in the introductory level, but I also used it in the last level, skipping the need for the box, and that move scratched that typical "puzzler"-itch. Thanks!

Phew! This game feels so old school, really nostalgic. And tough too. Especially level 12, the last level! I did figure it out in the end though! Really cool game! If you'd told me it was a port of an old NES game, I might have believed you.

Great game! It gets quite difficult quite fast. Maybe a way to move the camera around would be nice, because in this kind of games (you only get one resource, then your movement and interactivity is limited) you really need to know all the pieces of the puzzle before making your play, and sometimes you kind of end up having to die a few times forcefully by wasting the jump to see all the map.

Also, the tail collides with the boxes! i'm not sure if it's intended.  Specially notable in the level where you put the two boxes in the hole with the spikes to pass through.

However the way you introduce the mechanics is top notch. Seriously. Well done there! you know exactly how everything interacts and get a grasp of the rules quite quickly.

Got stuck in level 11. The ladder jump is really hard!

I'm glad that you enjoyed our game, even if you couldn't finish it. The reason the tail has collision is because we entertained the idea of using it as a weight to hold down blue buttons. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to fully develop this concept, as it only shows up in the level where buttons are introduced.

Great game !
Each mechanics come very smoothly and once you try it you're like "Oh yes gotcha".
You had time to made some interesting levels. Good job for that honestly !
And once your complete a tricky one it's so satisfying.

The only thing I was surprised about is : You can control the ball in the air after jumping but not when you fall ! But I guess you made it that way to only have 1 solution in the level 10  (not sure about the number) when you have to jump to not press the red button at the end of the level.

Note : I got stuck on the last level.. Tell me the answer please ! :P

Good submission !

Thanks for playing!

You can actually control the character when he's falling, maybe it just doesn't look like it because he falls pretty fast.

Spoilers for the last level now: the trick is to just do a really quick press of the button to release a block and then use it to stop the other block from hitting the red button.

Great game, the difficulty spikes really hard on Level 8 (and Level 9 is easier I would say) and there seems to be a bug where I can't grab the box sometimes. Great job nonetheless!

Simple and cute with good ideas, the tail interacting with buttons is clever and the stairs are genius. The level design is well thought out (Most of the times, that ladder and two blocks level is more art than science) and carriest out the game by itself.

Theme, the only jump is implemented but diluted in a sea of other interesting mechanics.

Originality, the only jump has been done a lot even more in puzzle games so that has no originality, but what is unique is the rest of the mechanics mentioned earlier which scores some well deserved originality points.

A winner is I! Great game! Great Level Design! Great explode animation with the late eyeball drop!

Really cool game, although I didn't manage to beat level 11 :(

It's fun to see that our games have the same core idea but with a completely different execution !

A good, well-polished game. Great work!

This is one of the better games I've played in this jam, very nifty puzzles.
The block on level 10 had some trouble fitting in the gap

Simple idea, very well build, challenging and very fun to play! Nice work!

One of my favorites of the jam so far, perfect difficulty and great polish.

This game has so much charm. The death animation, the way he looks down when near an edge, how he grabs things with his spring tail, its just so clever. A lot of games had the one jump gimmick, but this is easily one of the best. Great job!

Developer(+2)

I'm so glad you liked it! We worked hard to make the game feel just right, and I wanted the "only one" jump to have a logical reason behind it. That's why the ball loses its tail when it jumps.

Developer(+2)

Wow good job on paying attention to even the little stuff. I added the player looking down over edges mechanic on a whim thinking that no one else would ever notice. Thanks for noticing!

Really nice game. Well polished. The grab mechanic was hard to figure out but overall amazing release. Good adherence to the theme.
