Clever idea! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam 2019 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! :)

According to @milololo1's comment, I also had problems controlling the light and costed me about 6-10 rounds and I had to find the solution in making sure that the character wouldn't die. I sometimes wish if the character were to move slower for a bit, that also costed me about 2 rounds in the level that had two crushers close another. Besides that, I gave the game 14/15 since it has full potential!

Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it! The light snapping away was definitively an issue, we will try to not overlook something like this next time!

I found it difficult to move the light because my mouse sometimes went to the left and right of the screen and I lost the control of the light. But otherwise the game respects perfectly the theme!

Developer

We've got some other complaints from the light letting go like this and we should have definitively prevented that from happening. We will polish that up if we ever release another build. I'm happy you liked it regardless! :)

Very enjoyable game with a very clumsy control. To be honest, the overall vibe from the game is ver pleasent. All you need to do is to fix character AI and add some polishment to it, and the game is done for release. Overall, nice work, hope you will find strenght and will to finish your project.

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The controls lack some polish but thats mostly from our inexperience with Unity. We will try to polish things up if we make another build.

Really cool idea. I would mark the things that disappear in the dark by making them grey or striped. I see good potential. The controls are a bit wonky but there is something satisfying about the lamp swinging when you let go of it. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree we should probably made those dissapearing blocks more clear, striped is a good solution. And yeah, we spent quite a while tryingto get the lamp swinging in a nice way, I'm glad you liked that!

I think this would be a good mobile game. I like the simplicity of it, however I did not quite know what to do at first. It seems like the player does not run to the light 100% of the time so that confused me, but once I got passed that it was fun. I do think that the things that crush you should not do that when the light is not there. I am guessing you have a mechanic where things are not actually there if you can not see them but I was not sure. I also almost wished that the light was just bound to the mouse so I don't have to hold click. I kept accidentally letting go of the lamp.

I'm glad you liked some of our ideas! We tried to leave the game a little bit vague since it was a puzzle game, but perhaps we overdid it. The character always runs to the left when he is out of the light, and that is mostly a leftover from some of our initial ideas, where we wanted him to run to the start of the level if the light left him, but we ended up changing this a bit. We also do have a mechaninc where some things dissapear when there is no light, but just a couple walls do, not everything. It just felt like we could design the stages a bit better that way, but I guess it ended up being a bit confusing, so thats our bad. And yes, I totally agree the cursor should be bound to the light, it is just way more convenient. I friend of mine brought that to my attention when I showed it to him and I was like "Yeah, why didn't we do that?" Either way, thanks for the feedback!

Awesome game, very original.

The light mechanic works very well and I liked that the fear meter is used in the puzzles (at least I used it).
The puzzles are fun and well thought.

Very well made, congratz

Thanks for the kind words!

And yes, using the the fear meter was the intended solution, so I'm glad you figured it out and it wasn't confusing!
