Interesting concept. You really need to drag the key along with you. It is both an anoyance (going through tight spaces) and a tool (jumping, opening locks). Sadly I was just stuck at some point and didn't found a way out.

Congratulations for the game! I loved how the mechanics were designed to fit the theme. Rated <3

A love how the key is used for movement and navigation! Great game, adriendittrick!

Thank you :) make sure you send this game to your friends, it's what helps me most!

This is a remarkably finished product for a game jam. the main gameplay of having to navigate the giant key around tight corners, or using it to reach high ledges is satisfyingly tricky. I look forward to spending more time with this.

Developer

thanks :) tell me if you reach the ending!

Really nice platformer! I included it in my GMTK Game Jam 2019 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

A really interesting idea! It blends the theme of the jam with this "stephen's sausage roll"-esque puzzle gameplay really well

Developer

Stephen was a big inspiration yes :)

Make sure you send this game to your friends, it helps me a lot o/

A quite interesting puzzle game! The key mechanic allows for a vast diversity of different puzzles, and it shows with the high amount of content you got to put in in just two days!

I also quite like the dynamic music! It's well implemented and gives a nice mood to the game!

Developer

thanks for playing :) send this to as many people as possible if you liked it!

It's an amazing game, it took me 45 minutes to finish it and it was 45 five minutes of fun and mind-blowing, the puzzles are clever, the level design is precise, congrats for this awesome game !

i got softlocked repeatedly, so i haven't made much progress in the game, but i do appreciate the dynamic music when you pick up the key!

Developer

Yeah, I didn't have time to playtest every single outcome so I guess some softlocks would happen :/

(this is how you see that playtesters are a vital part of the industry and should be treated better)

If you liked the music, you can listen to more of it on my soundcloud :) https://soundcloud.com/adrien-dittrick

Wow, I did not expected to find a game with that much content ! Well done !

Developer

I started by making the platform+key engine, and then made an entire dungeon layout but with empty rooms. When that was functional, I just filled in the rooms with puzzles :)

Lol the game closes when I push CTRL + W since Its a shortcut on my browser.  Really fun art and mix of puzzling and platforming. things make sense and work mostly how I expected. Great job! I had fun and that's what all games should do. :)

Developer

Oh wow I didn't expect it to work that way X) I should probably remove CTRL as an input lul.

Anyway thanks a lot for playing :) Consider sending this game to your friends if you liked it!

The game is quite hard till you get to grips with the mechanics. Nevertheless I really like the key orientation mechanics and how they're used to get to new places or prevent your death. Also the rope mechanics were introduced at the right time for some new life and to answer my question why there are so many green "things" hanging around.

Overall I enjoyed the game, you should give it a try.

Huge game, pretty hard and puzzle-based. Once you understand the mechanics the game becomes much better. There is quite a lot of enjoyable content except for the (presumably) last level which is way to hard for me. Sometimes you just struggle to do what you want to do because of game mechanics. Still this game is very good for 48h

Thanks a lot for playing :) Consider sending this game to your friends if you liked it! (just don't tell them about the frustrating last level :p)

My favourite part of this game was probably just the fact that you have to plan your movements taking the key into account - and you can use it to get up higher by jumping and sliding the end over a platform. So many times I thought I was stuck and then realized I could get out by popping the key over the edge of a platform :D Quite satisfying!

The power ups are cool. Add some extra dynamics to the gameplay. I liked the bouncy one ^_^ (I went there first too! Not sure if I was supposed to or not? I just walked to that area). Didn't get all the diamonds sadly, was missing a few, but gave it a good shot! Didn't experience any crash or anything as other people have - so that's good :)

Must agree with one of the guys below - screw the rats :D

Developer

The rats are the memory factor of this game :p

Thanks for playing! If you liked this game be sure to send it to your friends!

Impressive how much you managed to do in 48h!

Developer

Thanks for playing :) The dungeon layout is the thing I made first, and then I worked on filling it.

Played slow on Chrome (sound played, but slowed). Played fine on Safari, no sounds heard on Safari.

The key mechanic is a fun idea, using it to reach places (although I got stock in the room with the first spider for a bit, but passed it with the pixel perfect jump needed between platforms). Felt great to figure out how to use the key to climb up.

I didn't read the game description other than controls, but started to enjoy the game more after the vine climbing key enhancement.
(felt weird walking off a platform then seeing the character hover, due to them latching on to a vine. Not sure if there is a sound cue for vine grabbing, but threw me off a bit). The key enhancements were great to discover and fun to use and solve your puzzles.

You have excellent level designs planned out to teach the player how to use your key enhancements; How to navigate levels while tilting the key, and levels designed well to teach how enemies work.
Also, my favorite enhancement is the spiked key, because fuck those rats. Got up to the gauntlet level, but stopped playing with the narrow drop with the spider, couldn’t figure out how to pass that part.
Great Game!

The art is good. I got softlocked.

Developer

It seems that a lot of people are encountering softlocks in the first area, just refresh the page if this happens.

Developer

The softlocking issue has been fixed :)
