Its probably just me, but when I played this in browser, everything was buggy

The player froze every time it got to the second level, leaving me to have to restart the page. The music was also very buggy and popped a lot

That said though, the movement was nice, and the graphics were amazing!!

Hey, we have a pretty similar concept for our games!! (^u^)

Also, The game is pretty cool, the graphics are awesome and the game feels pretty polished. Like many other said the WebGL version lags pretty heavly and sometimes the game (Win and Web Verison) crashes. For your first game jam, this is an Awesome entry!! REALLY Good Job!!

Some Notes:

  • The player is too fast and slides around too much
  • A thing i also noticed while developing my game is that switching the Up/Down key when the gravity changes is pretty unintuitive, not to mention that is more hard to control this way
  • In your game there are ways to lock yourself from progressing, even in the first level where you should be able to learn the basics, the player will feel pretty confused on what to do in those moment, especially since you never tell them that you can restart the level
  • I see you added Koyote Jump, nice job!! If you really want to nail your player controller i also suggest you to add Jump Buffer as well (or extend the time/frames of it, if it's already in the game)
  • Disable The Trail when you die, and re-enable it once you respawned. It's weird seeing the player died and a random trail going to the top-left corner of the screen
  • With enough speed, you can doo this:

  • Also in some point in the game you can fall to infinity. I suggest you to add some Auto-Retry zones and/or a Camera confiner
  • Space pauses the game, with no way to unpause it :/

I got stuck in level 5, but form what I've played so far the game is a masterpiece, Again, Good Job!!

EDIT: I often don't ask this, but I'll be a very happy boy if you'd check out my game!! (^D^)

*Obviously 5 star rating*

I'm glad that you liked it. I played your game and saw that we do have similar concepts; I like it too. It really doesn't have Koyote Jump. I think it's just how the collision is set for the player. The reason why the player can fall into infinity is that I was going to add a death effect on when it happens. Like the camera will focus on a text above the level but sadly, I didn't have the time.

If you're still stuck at level 5, here's the walkthrough for the whole game:

On one hand the graphics are very appealing, but on the other hand there controls feel kinda slippery and getting stuck over and over again in a pit is not fun. Though I thought your take on the theme was pretty creative. I still had fun seeing how far I can get before crashing it.

Sorry for those who find it difficult to play. I forgot to add the list of controls and a tutorial so, yeah. I will try to fix all the bugs that you've encountered and release it soon...(I dunno If anyone would still play it, but I'm going to do it anyways).

The game does in fact have a reset button, it's shift+r. You could also quit by pressing esc. When on the other side, you should press down to jump instead of up.

This is my very first game and my very first jam. Thank you all for the feedback. I'm really glad that you've all liked it.

The same (great) idea but different style.

Hey, thank you very much for suggesting my game!! (^u^)

My pleasure. It's always interesting to see how the same concept lead to different games.

Ye, I Agree!! (^D^)

Your game looks so polished, but the both versions have critical bugs, that makes it hard to play.
I don't know if upload are closed, but if not I encourage you to upload a fixed version (without deleting the jam one), and you must specify it in the description page. If so I will test your game again.

The game is super Polished, the movement feels great. 10/10

You need to have a restart button.

My game always crash when i die, And i always have to restart the game.

Some time i get off the screen when changing the other side.

Like brakeys always said playtest in gamejam.

But this game is ultra cool and i like it.

I request you to check my game also and give you honest opinion on that.

Bye

Good game, clever idea and good execution. Shame the html version is so broken.

That pit in the first level got me stuck too many times though, it was a bit frustrating to reload the whole game for it.

Submitted

I like the idea of this game! but I have the same complain as everyone else: the html version freezes.

Submitted

As mentioned, html version freezes, but overall game is great, nice sounds and visuals

Fantastic idea, i love it! only very few complaints: the movement is a bit drifty (like if you're running on ice), and I didn't find any way to reset the level when I landed in a pit. That's really the only thing that kept me from playing, because I want to be respawned as quickly as possible and give it another go. But visuals, sounds and game mechanics are top notch!

Developer (1 edit)

yeah, I forgot to put the list of controls when submitting the game. you can press shift+r to restart and esc to quit. I'm very happy that you liked it. very few people play jam games when it needs to be downloaded, thank you for that.

Graphics are really nice and the game seemed really promising, however it froze on the first death and after i switched onto the other side I couldn't jump and then the game froze again.

Developer(+1)

When in the other side, you should press down instead of up. I'll try to fix these issues as soon as I can
