The tiny planets were fantastic and fun. It worked great with the gathering and crafting. Too bad you couldn't get as much done as you wanted, that would have really put this game at the top. Great work regardless.
Thanks :D
Once voting is over, i'm most likely gonna do a big patch fixing it up, because it could actually be a kinda fun game, but the unfinished buggy state drags it down
I was very confused even after reading the tutorial, as the others mentioned. But once I understood that the inventory system is litterally picking up items from the world with the cursor I was hooked :) Kept loosing couple of times, but then I found out, when you go to a planet that is already eliminated, you can stay as long as you want :D (its definetly a bug xD) I took my sweet time and crafted some stuff. Unfortunetly I couldnt figure out how the furnace works :/ But I did enjoy my time. The art looks good and there is definetly a hidden gem here
Ty for playing :D
Yea, the tutorial was a very last minute thing, originally the plan was to have a separate level for it that explains things as you do them, but got sick for nearly a week of the jams runtime so it had to be cut sadly
Also glad you liked the inventory, it was one of the few things in this project that i was actually quite happy with lol
also landing on eliminated planets is very much a bug lmao
(btw if you want to give it a play again, the furnace has 2 slots on it, the bottom one is for fuel (wood or coal), and the top one is for ores like iron, and once it goes trough, the output will be in a slot at the back of the furnace)
Thanks for the tip with the furnace. I tried the game again, and now I feel so dumb xD I was standing on the wrong side of the furnace :O and tried to put the stuff into the output slot. I do think that the time on each planet is a bit short, I was not able to get to iron when playing legit. When cheesing the hell out of it, i got to the space gun, and it looked really good. I was not able to win though, (which is not a bad thing, because I bugged it) Overall the rest of the game was great, the inventory system works well most of the time, theres only the problem, when the rocked or a table is behind the invetory, you cant put anything in the slots.
As others mentioned a tutorial would go a long way, but this was really cool!
I had a hard time understanding why I was losing and didnt really seem to be able to collect resources. That said this look so good. I love the visuals, mechanics like the world, map and planet travel. (I said "woah!" when I pulled up the map) and the unique inventory ui. This could be a great game with full dev time
Yea, the game over conditions were very last minute, so it wasn't clearly telegraphed or explained
After voting is over, might give it another week of development, because it's nowhere near what i wanted it to be
(also so sorry for responding this late, checked itch every day and it showed no notifications till now, so i missed a ton of comments)
I think you did really great in the time frame. Definitely pulled me in. Good luck in the Jam!
The visuals look great, I love how the atmospheres on the planets look. I was a little confused about what the goal was but I had a lovely time just watching the sunset :)
Ty :)
Originally planned on doing a full tutorial segment explaining the goal, and all the systems, but sadly got sick for a whole week of the jams runtime, so a lot of the game had to be cut
If you want to give it another shot, the end goal is to craft yourself a spacegun, so that you can project yourself once the alien chasing you reaches your current planet, you can see the recipe of the spacegun in the crafting table, if you scroll trough the recipes
Really ambitious project. I was lost on what to do exactly to escape the alien and how to use the spaceship to travel. I may come back later to try to understand better because screenshot looks really promising. The starting planet is really cute !
Thanks :D
Yea, the goal isn't clearly told, wanted to do a full tutorial with actual dialouge, and getting taken trough the different systems, but managed to get so sick i was rotting in bed for a whole week unable to do anything
If you want to give it another shot, the goal is to craft a space gun before the alien reaches the planet you are on (you just need to have it in your inventory when the timer on your current planet runs out), you can place down the crafting bench, and scroll to it's recipe to see what items you need to gather
And for using the ship, you just need to be near it, then open the map (M) and left click on any planet/moon to travelt o it (you can also right click to see what resources it has, and it's description)
(Also for planets/moons without an atmosphere you will need a helmet in the rockets inventory, you get 1 at the start, then you can craft more)
Please ignore how the title is not set up in the menu, was so tired yesterday when submitting, it completely crossed my mind
