I think this is awesome! I love the simple yet challenging puzzles. I think the ability swapping is a really interesting and fun feature. The tutorial levels are a great introduction to the game. The puzzles are well thought out. The last puzzle took me a minute to figure out and was rewarding when I finally did.
The only issue I noticed was the camera. Like someone else said, I thought the aiming felt a little sluggish. At first I thought it was just me (I'm mostly a console player, so not used to aiming with mouse). There were also 2 incidents where the camera kind of freaked out. The first time was in the 3rd puzzle (I believe), where you hit the button and sprint through the door. As I got to the door, the screen made a complete 180 degree turn. The 2nd time happened randomly, where the camera went ballistic (only for about a second).
Lastly, I think including the purpose of the blank ability things in the tutorial levels would be good (it's entirely possible that I just missed it..). I really struggled with the last puzzle until I accidentally put the high jump ability in the blank ability thing. I realize these were placed in previous levels, but I simply ran through them and straight to the goal so I never noticed my current ability getting placed in it. I thought it just deleted my ability and I wasn't really sure why. However, it's not something that made the game any less fun and actually added to the difficulty of the last puzzle (therefore, more rewarding once realizing what I needed to do to make it work).
I really look forward to seeing more of this, great job!
Hey,
Thank you for playing and giving such a detailed feedback. Nice to hear that you liked it.
I am sorry to hear that you had trouble/issues with the canera. I may tweak the settings a little for the next release or at least give a slider to change it manually.
Regarding the 'freak out' camera: Did you play the web version? Or the Standalone? Never had such an issue in my hours of testing :) even with capped fps.
Oh and *spoiler*, there are more levels in the making for the upcoming jam 😁
Hey BolrikDev,
It's no problem at all, I enjoyed it!
I was playing on the web version and after trying the standalone version, I can confirm that playing the web version was my issue. The camera actually felt fine in the standalone. The camera didn't freak out at all, so I'm sure it was just some lag with the web version! Regardless, I think a slider isn't a bad idea!
I'm looking forward to playing more levels and will be watching for your submission!!
Really like the simplistic and retro art style. The puzzles are well thought out and fun. Provide an interesting mix of platforming and strategy with mixing an matching the different powerups. Looking forward to seeing this idea get expanded.
Loved the gameplay! I wish I could see the "developer score" on menus and stuff and not just an image on the first level. I played them all and tried to be as fast as possible. The last level had a neat trick using the ability stealer, that was cool.
Feels good to play, though the mouse look feels sluggish and hard to aim at times. At least one level can be cheesed, but I think that rewards the speedrunning aspect more than anything. Also the level camera scroll thingy on menus is awesome. Audio indicator for sprinting/jumping/player actions would be awesome. But otherwise it was short and sweet and I liked it!
Thank you for your feedback.
I might add the Dev Scores ad some more sounds effects in the future :)
I am glad you liked it.
Super fun puzzles, really liked the swapping of abilities mechanic, added a nice layer. Wish there was some ambient/background sound but the effects were real nice. Art style really hit the "half life" setup and it matched the vibe I got from the game so I thought it was nice. Really biggest lacking was any sort of narrative to the game, but overall still fun.
Thank you for your feedback!
It might be to silent but there is some kind of ambient sounds :)
It feels good that you like the style. I appreciate this
Wow, this is really excellent! Really well done given the short amount of time.
The sound effects were spot-on.
I thought the tutorial levels were really well done and properly introduced the mechanics, while providing some degree of challenge.
I think it's really great that you track the player's time to complete the level. Really adds a competitive edge.
The menu is really nice. The background is cool and the HUD itself is crisp!
Cool that you were able to do so many levels and a playground.
Some small feedback:
Btw, I was curious about what you're saying:
This mean you're planning on adding on to this game every month? Would be cool!
Well done!Thank you for the Feedback!
I did not know you can get stuck there :D Good point!
Yes, online Leaderboard would have been nice. Maybe i will add it in future iterations because as you quote:
Yes I plan on continue this project for the whole year. It might depend on the themes that will come but at least i will try and at least add new levels.
I think that'll be cool, looking forward to seeing future iterations!
