so when I played the mouse was still moving around normally which made it very hard to look around it took me reading the comments to figure out what to do cool art style fun music it slowing down immediately made me think something was wrong so thats good. the pickup mechanics felt a bit weird maybe it was just user error I would try to pick something up then also throw it. I noticed I mainly camped by the board and looked from across the room at people not that thats a bad thing just something I noticed cool stuff which I didn't have the mouse issues but i think I might have been the only one also some sound when you throw something or buy the thing. and the issue with the mouse i think happened when i clicked lmb before the I was close enough then got closer and clicked again but it like auto pick uped which is what threw me off

Thank you for your feedback.

Yes, a tutorial would have been helpful. The throwing across the rooms works to a certain degree :)
At some point there are so many that this strategy does no longer work.

Yea, the pick-up flag is set but not unset if there was nothing to pick up. I left it as feature but i feel like i should have removed it :)

it kinda makes sense tho its like you are getting ready to grab something its just awkward when you find that out and slow people like me just takes a bit longer lol

This game is fun and charming, and my favorite game of the jam. Simple game mechanic thats the right amount of chaotic. Art style is great and perfectly fitting. Nothing bad to say other than the mouse sensitivity was insanely high. But I have noticed that with a lot of the games I play web builds of so it could be an issue on my end.

Developer

Thank You. Really kind words. Good to hear that you liked it.

Yes, the mouse sensitivity was way to high. I somehow struggle to set this right.

Simple but it's a decent game loop, definitely fit well with the theme and the art assets were on point.

For me the mouse wasn't locked in place making it hard to move around after a bit, that would definitely be an easy fix.

Got to about 1600 score.  Picking up food was somewhat temperamental, sometimes it'd just automatically grab it and sometimes I'd have to manually click on it.  Catching the food mid-air felt good though.

Certain spots you'd just get lucky and the food would fly directly to the customer lol.

Developer

Thank you.

Woops, yes. I totally forgot to lock the mouse, lol.

For the first attempts 1600 is a good score :) i was aware of the mouse behavior. It stores the lmb and rmb button press until it is used. In the end i decided to keep it as feature. Maybe not the best choice :)

Yes, the spot right next to the "kitchen" counter and some times the table next to the fire can get auto served, hehe

Some really nice touches - having controls on the chalk board and portraits of your past games on the walls - I really like how it fits w/ the theme!

I also liked the atmosphere and the concept was funny.

Some feedback:

  • The mouse-looking felt very sensitive? Not sure how much of this is my lack of playing FPS's w/ a mouse haha
  • I was struggling to figure out how to serve food? I was able to pick items up and place them. But I wasn't sure how to get the elves to eat them?
  • Some sound effects when picking things up/getting hit would do a lot to make it clear when things happen, I think

Thank you for your feedback.

I am not sure how to best set the sensitivity. :D Tried the loswest dpi for my mouse and it felt okay.

To serve the item they want.. just throw it at them :) The item the want is hinted above theire had as soon as they reach a table.

Yea, sound effect would have been the next thing on the list. Sadly i had to less spare time for this jam due to my job...
