Happy Halloween, Game Devs! Welcome back to GDA's favorite time of the year - Spooky Season! Join us for a game jam throughout the month of October!
What's a game jam some may ask? A game jam is a game development marathon where participants create a project within a given time frame (Ours being roughly 29 days). We welcome all skill levels and backgrounds; Remember, the best way to improve as a game dev is to make games!
Did we pique your interest? Then join us for GDA's annual October Game Jam!
At the end of the Jam, there will be a rating period that lasts 4 days (Until November 4th, 2022). Your game will be rated by the community on aspects such as:
Playability - How accessible is your game - Is it actually playable?
Enjoyability - How appealing your game looks and feels to the player.
Effort - How much perceived effort was put into your submission.
Theme - How well your game fit the theme of Halloween/Horror.
Keep in mind that the theme is purely for inspiration, and should not be a harsh factor when rating projects.
Rules:
Keep game content clean. No NSFW content, offensive content, over-excessive gore/violence.
Any games that do not follow the rules will be removed from the jam without warning.
FAQ:
Can I submit more than one game? You are free to submit as many games as you can develop within the time frame.
Can I submit a game I already made? No. You may only submit projects made within the time frame.
What engine can I use? You can use any engine or framework you like. You can even make your own if you want.
Do I have to follow the theme? You are not restricted by the theme, however, degree of adherence to the theme will be factored in the submission judging process. Though the theme is pretty flexible.
I have code and assets from other Jams I wish to use, are these allowed? Yes! If you have the rights to use it, anything that wasn't made specifically for this particular jam is allowed. This jam in particular isn't strict on the "build it from scratch" ruling, but it is encouraged.
