Really fun game, the key being used for attacks is a unique approach that makes the game feel quite different to other platformers in the jam.

Really cool concept. Needing to lug a key around while also being able to take out enemies with it was nice. Alas, audio and more levels would be great, but I understand the time constaint hindering both of those.

Thank you for playing! Yeah this was the closest I've ever come to straight up not finishing a jam game in time so i had to make some cuts

The main mechanic of picking up the key really gave me Mario 2 vibes. I really liked the challenge of level 3 and wish the were more levels. I played on a Xbox 360 gamepad, and didn't run into any issues or bugs in my playthrough, so good job implementing that option! Would have liked at least some sound effects in lieu of no music, but unfortunately there were no sounds at all :((

Otherwise, with the movement feeling solid, the core mechanic being simple and effective, I thought this was a nice effort. I would play again if more levels were added!

Well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I do regret not being able to put in audio or more levels but this one was a real photo finish to get this submitted. Glad the gamepad worked for you!

This was great, the gameplay felt good and the character was very expressive!

Thank you! I thought it would be fun to try to give my character a goofy little face.

I had a game like this on the orignal gameboy where you played as mario and had to carry a key and solve puzzles! Your game brought me back to the good days where we can only carry one item at a time! I very much so like this mechanic and these types of games. To be honest the Gameboy seems like such a great platform for puzzle games like this!

Great work on this one! Would love to see more levels and carry more objects over my head! XD XD

Developer

Thanks so much! If I had time I certainly wanted to include some enemies you could pick up and throw at other enemies but to get the game done I had to stick to just the key.

This game reminds me of Donkey Kong for game boy,  :') finally somebody with good taste!!!

I like the game and the clever level design! VERY VERY good entry!

Someone else's game makes a direct reference to this game!

I just got this game for the first time on my EverDrive. My mind was blown when I beat the first level!! And mario can do a handstand!!

Developer

Thank you! It was really just a matter of thinking "if I were making a Game Boy game, what would I want it to be like?" and the answer to me was obviously Donkey Kong '94

Fun game. I like the use of KJ for AB since is feels more natural to control.

Developer

Thanks! J and K was a good choice on both of our parts, I think :)

Your main character's sprite is hilarious!! I love it.

Reminds me of SMB2 / Doki Doki Panic- throwing keys around. Was afraid Phanto might show up:

Thank you! There wasn't time to try to include flying masks lol

A bit short, but it was a lot of fun! Simple, but addictive. You should know though that when I tried using my controller, the game actually froze for some reason. Other than that it was great!

Developer

Ah shoot. That's good to know though. Did you plug it in while the game was running? (Not that I really know what difference that makes lol) Thanks for playing!

Very reminiscent of one of the greatest GB games, DK94.

Well done!

Developer

Yep, it was absolutely inspired by DK94 and I didn't really try to hide it lol. Thanks for playing!

This was a pretty fun game, nice and simple. Good puzzle mechanics, wished it was longer but the three levels or so were all fun to play through.

Developer

Thank you! Truth be told, I started putting the levels together about 2 hours before the deadline... Glad you enjoyed it!
