wonderful lil game and great art :D i also unfortunately got stuck after the annoying kid went away. there is also a small bug at the edge of the beach where you are teleported back to from the island where you can  just keep clicking a and it refreshes the screen over and over.

since i got stuck, i just hope the cat feels better at the end :3 good job

I am a simple man i see cat I click. Jokes aside its a very charming game the dialog made me laugh a lot. Unfortunately I got stuck after chasing away the annoying Kid with the fish. The art screams Game Boy and I love it :D had a great time

Super cool! As soon as i read "fluffles purrs weakly" i was ready to die for that cat

It's spooky Palett Town! Great start here and the art is on point. The music volume is super low though so I had to turn my system volume to 100 to hear it. I'm definitely going to follow this to see what you do with it in the future. Great job and keep at it.

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed

A great entry.
Unfortunately there are several places where you can walk right off of the screen and keep walking forever it seems (one place is above and below the entrance to the beach) and the game glitched twice during conversations, stopping me from going any further, (the last time was on the beach after getting the boat back, the guy said it was lovely weather and it just kept repeating, nothing I pressed stopped it) I did get to the island and got that amazing gift in return for my useles, boring broom though... Hahaha
Despite the issues I really liked the dialogue/humour and the art style and missions, which are very (maybe too) reminiscent of Zelda, if it wasn't for the glitches I'd definitely have continued playing

Thanks for the feedback! I actually havent played links awakening for the gameboy just yet, I mainly based the artstyle and gameplay off of pokemon, but im glad it was nostalgic for you! Sorry about the bugs, its my first time using godot and also ym first time makinga  dialogue system..   so there where some issues

The aesthetics, and  music bring nostalgia, graveyard music is very immersive!; I loved the spooky village having a mild psychosis affecting the people, they talk real. Unfortunately, I got freezed during the search for the cat's remedy. Well done!

Developer

sorry to hear that :( but I'm glad you enjoyed! If you tell me where the freeze happened i can try and patch it after the jam if you want

Offcourse, didn't want to spoil the quest sequence in an immediately visible area; I got frozen twice. First, in the store talking to the jetpack child; second, right after getting the flute from the goblin, after the map transition to the village.

Developer

K! thanks, Ill get to fixing it, I dont know what went on with the child, but I think I have an inkling about the goblin scene, i thought i fixed it but there was a null reference somewhere, something about the flute trying to access its ability over scenes, thanks for letting me know!

Well done! I actually featured your game in my livestream review:

Charming. The sprite work is rich and classic. The music and sound effects that are in play are quite good, though I would have liked more (time obviously being a restraining factor, I can't really hold this against the game). It's a game about something quite frightening - not being able to afford health care.

Keep it up. I'd love to see more like this in the future!

Developer

Thanks so much! I'm happy you enjoyed the art! I spent wayy to long on it for a game jam lol, so I'm glad it paid off!
