How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
Is smol, 4 colours and has pumpkins with evil faces (so spoopy)

Very fun concept, and very interesting use of sprite stacking. I hadn't seen it used in a game with a game boy aesthetic before, and the result is very trippy.
I really like the idea of running over a bunch of pumpkins! Although I feel like the audio could have benefited from a more "squelchy" sfx for this. The pure white noise crash sound works fine for hitting obstacles, but can get quite grating when smashing multiple pumpkins at once or in quick succession.
I'm also not sure I grasp how to deal with the final boss, I kept getting stuck in a sea of gourd and running out of fuel.
In general: love the art, the vibes and the little narrative; found the controls a bit fiddly, but ultimate fun to master; and enjoyed the industrial, metallic texture of the music, but feel like it could be toned it down for some of the sfx.
Very unique entry, good job!
Thank you for playing,
For some reason, the boss battle has a lot of bugs that only appear once packaged. This was my first jam using pygame and pygbag so I'm hoping that next project I can work around whatever causes these to occur.
Didn't have the time to fix this before the deadline but this is the most stable build.
Don't sweat it, jams are rough enough without trying out new tech, I totally get it. You did a great job here. Feel free to ping me if you end up pushing a post jam update at some point!
That was cool! The car mechanics are a little finicky, but fun to pull off. The art is proficient. Destroying pumpkins was very satisfying!
After a while, the game froze up on the final boss. I'm not sure if it's because I defeated it; the console didn't throw up any errors.
The crashing sound is quite loud. The enemy defeat sound is also quite loud, and it can stack on top of itself; it once peaked the audio to +2.2 dB!
The gif that plays on the Itchio embed is a somewhat obnoxious flashing light; it should probably be slowed down a little.
All-in-all, good work!
Thank you for playing. Yeah you beat the game. This particular build was the most stable but the end screen doesn't work. The end screen had time beaten and enemies killed with a little "winner winner pumpkin dinner". For some reason, when compiling there was always something not right. This build has quite a few but nothing game breaking, level graphics missing completely on final level, the bounce on the big pumpkins aren't working as designed, boss collision has a weird offset, audio loop isn't seamless and the win screen isn't working.
I assume this is made with sprite stacking which is cool, never done it myself. Game plays well, I like it, good job!
Thank you and yes. It's sprite stacking
Definitely hard to play when starting out but overall the gameplay is fine it's certainly unique, the art looks nice and the audio is good. I like how you used spooky and it overall is a funny and interesting idea. a pretty solid entry.
Thank you 😊
Controls took a bit to get used to, and bumping into things stopped you real hard. But once I got really fun once I got the hang of it. Cool game, congrats!
Thanks for playing. Earlier builds had multiplied velocity by a straight * -1 which was crazy if you were going fast, which in earlier builds was double, so you could pinball yourself real easy. Kinda fun; boost the enemies to 100x normal and you've got some really hard to control but oddly satisfying pumpkin grinder.
This was a fun one! I liked the controls, but I did feel like the acceleration from stopped to moving was my only frustration with this game, it was a bit slow. Other than that once I got going, killing the pumpkins felt awesome!
Thanks for playing, I think it's slow too don't worry. I did have it up higher in earlier builds, but it didn't feel fair to the pumpkins. This was also my first jam using pygame and compiling to wasm caused a few issues that I didn't have time to address.
Really fun game, very creative with controls and driving over the pumpkins. :D As a constructive criticism, music was a bit too repetitive i think. Also i liked the visuals, good job!
Thanks for playing, I agree on the music, the music in my game is just random keyboard presses and noises crunched down to 2khz in a 7 second loop. Probably something I will work on for future jams.
I very much enjoyed running over the pumpkins. This was a silly, fun game that definitely had a spooky theme. Great job!
This one's REALLY great
It feels nice to control, it's really creative, I kinda really want a full version now.
I'm not sure that there will be sorry. However, I would like to utilise the core mechanics into another project. But the flim flam story I would drop.
Alright sounds nice! Can't wait!
I cackled with glee so many times. The gritty death metal sound effects of picking up fuel canisters or repair wrenches, the sheer ridiculousness of the giant pumpkin soaring into view. Fantastic, visually and conceptually. Driving this hunk of a Studebaker (complete with it's tank like body that should have crumbled to dust as many times as I hit the fences in the middle of the map) feels suitably weighty, and the inclusion of tank controls for the car is just right. Very cool game, I'd love to play more of it.
Thanks for playing, I was surprised how cool some of the sound effects came out after crunching down to 2khz. The spanner sfx is a power drill and the fuel pickup sfx is just me going glug glug. If I would do it again, I would work in a team from the get go and focus solely on programming and the "3D" models, maybe the sfx but definitely not the music, level design or art.
