Play game
Goodbye to Yuu's itch.io pageHow does your game match the theme?
I wanted to play with several ideas based on the theme given such as the limited space you have in your bag, the space/distance between Yuu and their friends, and out-of-earth literal space. I have also written a postmortem devlog and Creator's Note blogpost with extra information on certain details of the game. Thank you for reading!

I am sincerely sorry, but it's come to our attention that Goodbye To Yuu makes heavy use of a third party asset pack and has been disqualified.

Wisty, I'm aware you came to us and asked what was acceptable for the jam so we don't chalk this up to maliciousness or dishonesty but simply a misunderstanding. All assets must be created during the jam and must be the original work of the creators.
The game remains a beautiful piece and contains a lot of original work. I hope this doesn't dent your game development experience too harshly.
For your records, I've taken a screenshot of the ratings for your game before it was disqualified:
Very cool! The art is amazing. Good job :)
Am I the only one that somehow got hit right in their feels? Lovely game!
Such a wholesome and charming little game! This gave me the warm and fuzzies <3
Super cute! Love the premise, and it's so charming to have multiple microgames to play to receive the different items. Nice work, proud of you! Thanks for sending it to me to try out.
My gosh, this is the sweetest game in the entire jam! I absolutely adore it, this is so cute and innocent and I love all these little sweetheart characters. I love it and had to play it three times to get all the items - then read the author's note and played a fourth time for the extra ending!
By the way, I noticed a typo in one of the monkey's text boxes; he says "I wonder if you there are apple trees on the moon".
What a beautiful story.
A very nice game with enjoyable micro-games in between. Be careful with too much freedom, as at first, I arrived at the ship with nothing, but then I read carefully and realized I should explore what the city had to offer, hahaha. Nothing to say about the game; it's very nice. Although, it would have been great to see Yuu with the items they chose when they saw their planet again; it would add a more personal touch to the ending.
Thank you for playing! :)
I was expecting an action game. More movement, more enemies, etc. But what I found was something totally different. This was relaxing and cute, and these questions had me thinking.
Honestly, I was not expecting this kind of game, but it surprised me! Really, really cool.
Thanks for making this kind of games :)
Thank you! I'm surprised it would be thought to be an action game, but I'm happy you enjoyed it! :)
Wow this was such a neat game to find! First of all you all did a fantastic job, from the intro and the really nice pixel art, to the very calm and chill gameplay with those quick and easy minigames, following a story of someone that haves to leave home for what looks like forever...
Deciding to not take some items with you, make your backpack full, or just not taking any at all, only enjoying everyones company in the village shows what kind of person/player you are... And that is super cool ^^
The writing to was on point, even beeing able to use it twice in different situations and still making sense (the black cat is a great example of this).
Again, really nice job!
Thanks for your kind words and for playing the game! :)
I loved the serenity in this game. I'm more of an action player, but some games just mesmerize me. I thinks it's the cute characters and the dreamy music! I say you nailed it! And i really like the cover photo!
Great job!
Thank you for playing! :)
The art, music, and sentimental story all work together perfectly. I hope you continue building out this game.
Thank you for playing! :)
Sweet and moving game. I tried it three times, since it's impossible to cover all the content in a single attempt. That feels like a metaphor about the choices we make in life.
The graphics are lovely, just like an old Gameboy game. The music is top-notch. The writing is also very good.
Please note a bug I ran into: After obtaining the plaque, I stepped back into the location and it triggered the dialog asking me if I wanted to take the plaque with me. That ended up being my "third" item (meaning I had two duplicates of the plaque), and triggered the end of the game.
Thank you for playing!
I will look into that bug and have it fixed after the voting period. Thanks for letting me know!
I absolutely adore this game, played it twice to get the different endings. The final scene made me emotional. The storytelling and all the minigames are perfect. This deserves my highest rating.
Wow! Thank you so much! :')
You successfully made me feel things. It's simple, but resonates strongly.
The folklore inspirations are wonderful, I recommend anyone trying this read the creator's note - there was a lot of thought put into each of these characters!
Cute, beautiful, and wholesome. I'd love to play an extended version of this.
Thank you for playing and also reading the creator's note!
Awesome Work! Art is absolutely well made, the music works with the game perfect together and the sound design is good! The Story is also very rich, cute and emotional for that short time period. All in all an absolute banger of a game! Well done!
Thank you :)!
I will have to come back to try the other endings, good music, art, and story here. good job!
Thank you :)!
