I love this story. And simplicity of day cirle actually make overall idea stronger. Thank you
I liked this story and was sucked in. At first I didn't realize he was one of the pilots.... and I then the 'bad' ending was so sad.... I legit said 'WHAT?!' outloud in shock. I think the writing was very good. And I'm glad I found both endings as I didn't know how to do that without answering questions (I'm too used to visual novels lol) Great job!
I played through for both endings, but I would have expected the happy ending to come from doing as instructed and vice versa. Or perhaps the happy ending is also a delusion?
There isn't much to the game play but I think this is fine. The important thing is they impart the repetitive nature of the protagonist's isolated life. Of blindly serving a far away ruler for no personal gain and having only memories to instill this sense of obligation.
Interesting game—and an interesting ending, at least the one I got. It actually made me think a bit, I really didn’t see it coming. I hope the ant can live its life now :D Great project, the storytelling was really well done!
Great entry. It just all works, the monotony, the feeling of doom...
I thought I'd got won, but I think I got the delusional ending. Which just makes it all the more haunting.
The narrative depth and atmospheric design are impressive, especially for a jam entry. The dual endings added a compelling layer to the experience. Looking forward to seeing how this concept evolves!
As repetitive as the main game loop may be, those tasks being short and the game having an intriguing story kept me playing till the end. Very nice animations in all scenes, great job
that was really nicely done, a deep story mixed with intriguing gameplay, I stuck with it to the end!
An intriguing story, seemingly has a deeper meaning than the average game jam game. Made me have flashbacks of watching Oblivion: doing a task without knowing why, then the story slowly unfolds. Well written. This felt less of a game and more of an interactive movie. It was a nice touch having two endings, Well done for getting it all done in time.
I was hoping I could see the other ending, because I won all the dream sequences but not sure how bad it would be then.
Interesting take on simple mechanics. I like the ability to take repetitive tasks and add them to a story that feels much deeper than the game is showing. Really cool!
Feels closely related to a real life story of similar plot haha
My intent was that the ant was toiling away living in a delusion that their queen was still alive and the work they were doing had meaning. The dream section was supposed to be a sort of mental battle where they are trying not to succumb to their dreams. If you lose, then the ant fully succumbs to their delusion that the queen is still alive but if you beat the dreams then the ant realises the truth and has to move forward.
However, I spent so much time on just getting a working build that I couldn't play test or edit the script so it kind of came out a bit sloppy and unclear.
Thank you for playing though! I really appreciate it!
I really enjoyed this. The mood and story are really well put together. The plot twist at the end was great, I would have loved to see some more dialog added on at the end to learn more about the end of the empire. Great job on the pixel art as well.
Really cool story and atmosphere! I couldn't figure out how to get the second ending (assuming there is one based on the description) but I thought it was a clever twist. Great work!
This was strangely charming. I have been playing a bunch of arcade games for this jam, so I was kind of expecting another mechanically challenging game, and didn't really know what I was going for. I like the repetitiveness of the quick chores to kind of get you in that place, and the tension of waiting for what was inevitably going to be coming at the bottom screen during the night sequences was quite stressful. Great job.
Great sprite work, simple yet effective and the story is a banger! actually made me feel quie on edge, and when the music cut off on the last day i was a bit spooked! Good game!
The story was very intriguing! It would be nice if the dream had some extra stuff going on as I kept hoping something would happen then. Otherwise, great job I love the tiny world and the ending :)
I never expected the story to pique my interest so much! Well done on the writing!
I did find the dream music a little mind flooding in a good way, it was fun!
The daily tasks could've been a little more added to them, but I understand the time restrictions.
I had a good time with this game, good job!
