This was really fun! I think at one point I jumped over the boundary and went offscreen. But I jumped back in to finish the job :)

Developer

LOL, there is this bug! Thank you very much!

Tough fight! I really liked the feel of the jump attack.

Developer

Glad that you like it! Thank you!

Cool entry!

Developer

Thank you very much!

Wow, very short but effective. Like, almost comically short. I killed that one wraith, then game over? Or maybe the screen got stuck. Either way, this was an effective little battler that could be built upon. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, but it is just a black screen. VEEERY short game.

Short but full of fun surprises!

I like the jump attack that adds complexity to the combat. Well done with the jam entry!

Developer

Thank you, glad that you like it!

The game was way too laggy fullscreen but when I actually got round to playing it wasn't bad! The bad guy messed me up in the beginning but I cornered him in the end

Developer

That is nice! Thank you for playing until beat him!

I just loved the part where the game just plops you with story and then straight to action :D. The mishmash of art was very off putting and controls could have used some work they don't feel very responsive

Developer

Thank you very much! I am not sure why the controls feel laggy, probably I need to see the animations.

I always dig a good beat 'em up; although, for some reason, I play them very rarely. This is sort of inspiring me to have a go at making one...

I like the idea of a single, simple little fight that has seems to have some big story implications. It's a good idea for a jam, and seems like it could be a good jumping off point for something bigger. That said, the mechanics and aesthetics here would likely benefit from some more polish. Something like off about the movement, like I kept moving after letting go of the key, and it was difficult to tell both when my attacks and when the enemies attacks were landing; some feedback would easily fix this. The game is also sort of disjointed visually; if you were to continue working on this, I would suggest maybe sourcing art all from the same place, so you have things that all feel good together.

I'd be interested to see if you continue with this what it becomes! Like I said, I could use a good beat 'em up!

Thank you very much! I love beat'em up games. And I loved to make this one.

You are right, a good aesthetic would use the same artist or pretty similar.

Because the short time that I had to do it (30 hours of work in total)  I put the functions for react against the damage but did not used it.

One day I will go back to this line, but the work that I want to finish now is a VR game.
