Nice dual-handed game
Nice dual-handed game
interesting concept, could only use hp/death of the cargo container to make it more, dunno, realistic i guess?
Nice retro feel to the game, awsome vector graphics. Really cool idea. I would let the ships collect coins aswell, as I kept naturally trying to do that.
Good game! I could see it being pretty addicting if some small changes are made - maybe allowing the ship to auto-shoot instead of requiring the button to be held down, and encouraging/rewarding the player for exploration.
pretty good game and satisfying. Maybe just need some tutorial or in game instruction to make player more easily understand the gameplay. Overall good job for completing the game!
Plenty of others have provided feedback I'd just be repeating. I'll just say I really enjoyed this game. It left me feeling satisfied because of the nostalgia factor generated by the vector-display-like graphics that hearken back to when I was a kid hanging out in arcades playing games like it. Good job!
Overall, great and polished entry! It's a classic with a small twist and the music fits well. My feedback is kinda already stated in other previous comments. I particularly agree with the need for a better conveying of who the enemy is. But my main issue is I played through the entire game without having to move the container.
Sure controlling the container helps strategize, block enemies, and collect coins, but since the ship can also move the cargo it just felt redundant. I wish there was a better need for moving the container with arrow keys, especially because this is where your take on the theme shows the most.
Very Cool, it did take me an entire life to figure out you could buy upgrades from the planet but that's just because I am prone to push the play button instead or reading :P The only words of criticism I can come up with is that a would prefer to choose where my ship would shoot rather than the closest enemy but your version forces the place to play more aggressively thus heightening the danger and fun.(which is probably much better then having the player be able to shoot where ever they want). Also the player continues to shoot when they are in a safe zone, but that's not really much of an issue
A fun game with some neat mechanics, Great Work :)
You made an interesting interpretation of "Asteroids". It seems to me that such an implementation has potential, but UI / UX needs to be improved. At the moment it is very difficult to understand what needs to be done, what is dangerous and what is useful. At the same time, I enjoyed the game when I was able to figure out what to do. Great job!
Cool idea, made me use both sides of my brain!
I really like the art style used in the game they really pop, the game mechanics are really nice in my opinion. maybe the area that you should work on is the game feel and the font. otherwise, it's a really nice fun game D.
Great Idea! Was really fun playing it.
Really good game, amazing for co-op! Thanks for sharing! This is a huge idea!
I felt that this was a well done game, music might at some points been a bit loud. Otherwise a new take on the classics and adding those shop items was creating some reason why I would keep shooting the enemies. I think this with some polish and different kind of powerUps, or even that you could add some extra things on the ship (which could be automatic, like a turret or something) could spruce it up!
Took me a while to understand how I get points, since I was just destroying everyone with the other ship, which just works as a collector/shield, but once I got it, it was relatively understanable and good idea.
Small annoying thing I found (which might be intentional), was the ship is not shooting if you're not moving. I kind of understand that, so you can't just shoot and cover with the other ship everything that gets too close, but somehow it felt a bit off can't put a finger on it that why it did, since I understand the reasoning for it in that sense.
The start screen I thought as someone had mentioned here that I could control with either wsad or the UDLR keys, but they controlled different things, but that only took like 5sec for it to sink in when I started playing.
At first I didn't really see (too small on my screen) which button I should press to open to shop and once I got in, I wasn't really sure what button to press to get out, but the same was for both. But I think the reason I couldn't really see the e that it says there was, because Itch.io would let me go fullscreen, well it did for the main part, but your game was still a small area only that showed.
But overall I would say it's a great game and I spent more time on it than I originally thought! Which when playing SO many games during the game jam, can sometimes be a bit hard to do :D
Really solid game I thought this was a cool way to implement the theme and it was a new way of playing this type of game. it was a little difficult at first to control but it was fun using the anchor to help get the ship out of danger. Really good submission!
What a nice take on old time classic Asteroids. I like challanging games and this one was juts it. The fact that the two ships were attached together and I could drag one helped a lot with controling two ships at the same time. I just with it was a bit more endles because after some time it kicked me out and I was not fully upgraded yet with score 8 768. But I really liked it. Good job.
Hey you asked me for honest feedback so here it is:
You put a number on the rocks? What does this number does? Oh its the rocks health. All the gaming community is trained to see health as a bar. If you want it to be a number maybe change the color to red.
I read the description to get a feel for the story because people sometimes write it there but it was your CV. While I give you congratulations that you found a game dev job , a dream that many people... well dream, you should have added something relevant to the game also.
You gave us a flash screen with the controls. I assumed that you either control with arrows or awsd. You should have put at least a word like ship above awsd and container? above the arrows. I didn't know you can control the container it took me a while. Yellow card on this.
Can't say I like controlling two things like that even though the ship is auto-attacking.
You were going for an arcade 2d style. While this is a jam you could have selected a more arcady music and sfx.
And now comes the hardest part. You are a game designer by trade. You chose to make something very very very simple compared to the amazing games I played here and believe me I played a lot I am first in karma. If your hadn't put your CV on the description I would say Cool effort mate but from a game designer? Really disappointed.
But you make a living out of this and I don't so who am to criticize...
I dont play 2D games usually but this was an exception and fit the theme perfectly!!!! Really good foundation man!!!! If you have time please play my game and rate it!!!!!
A cool idea with the dual ship - and fun execution. Well done!
