I really liked this game. I struggled a bit to understand the controls at first, and sometimes the gecko didn't head in the right direction, but overall I enjoyed the experience. Good job!

I like this one a lot. It takes time to get a feel for the controls, but they make the gameplay more interesting. The visuals are also unique and cool. I had to stop for a moment and appreciate the jellyfish.
I dig the minimalist storytelling - the reveal of the boss was unexpected and very cool (although I may have had a bug - he just sorta froze after his big reveal). The ending overall was a great touch.
The main criticism I have is with the enemies. It seems sort of inconsistent about whether I'm doing damage. Most of the fish don't seem to move on their own. I'm also not sure how you're supposed to attack the pufferfish types without taking damage, although that may be a skill issue.
this is a fun game with some interesting mechanics! i found the movement a little difficult but i think that was the point haha -- well done!
Great work. The lighting makes a great atmosphere. Graphics could be a little more polished in my opinion. :)
Didn't get very far but fun. Graphics are great but I was having some trouble hitting the piranhas. Nice gameplay.
The physics can be a little wonky. But I loved the atmosphere of the game; the lighting and music really set the mood. The gecko is really cute, and it was very satisfying to crawl on walls super fast. I really appreciate the IK on the gecko’s legs and their floppy tail. The angler fish reveal was super cool, too!
Great job, I had a great time! I beat the game in a little under 7 minutes.
Rate no. 10
The good stuff:
- I love the player movement and had no issues with it on keyboard
- The music and sound effects fit the game
- It looks great, I love the rain world style player character
- The story was nice, makes the game feel more complete
- The levels all felt unique and connected, even if they all looked the same visually
- The liked the different kinds of enemies
The stuff to improve in:
- the UI is just basic text, it would be much more visually appealing if it was an icon and a number next to it. The oxygen could have been replaced with a bar.
- The weakest part of the game is definetly the theme; putting it into the story and calling it a day is not enough to get a high rating in it. Think of it this way: could you guess the theme during gameplay? Here, you can't.
Overall a really good game with a couple small problems, I had a lot of fun playing this one!
Agreed with BiggestBoof - the opening cutscene to this was so sweet. Really appreciate the effort you put in to giving the game a bit of a story!
After that, I felt a little lost; like I was just sort of swimming in the dark for a bit, the walls were kinda hard to see and it felt like I was already doing something wrong haha. Weird that you have to do that before seeing the controls; would have been nice to see the controls sooner maybe?
Having said that, a very cool and unique take on the theme. I love the gecko's movement - though it can be a bit fiddly at times, it's really cool how his tail moves & how the movement changes based on if you're swimming or not.
Great entry, really enjoyed!
The opening cutscene was very cute. I would have honestly loved more of them. The game was good, but I would have loved to see some of the mechanics have more relevance. For example, the oxygen never seemed to be relevant, which was a bit sad since it seems to be the main conceit of the story, the gecko proving that he can handle the water to be with his one true love. <3
Either way though, I had a lot of fun, thanks for making the game!
Thanks for the review! You’re absolutely right about the oxygen- I wanted to encourage players to try to complete levels quickly (hence motivating them to run on the walls instead of swimming) - but the timer is so slow that actually suffocating is very rare for most players. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
