This is a nice management game, actually, you mine the ores and craft armors and shields to serve the orders. I noticed the order time limit will pause if you get inside the mine, which is fine, since mining stone one by one and dragging these tiny ores one by one will take some time. However, if there's a way to re-evaluate the smelted ingots' weight and quality, it would be cool since I will first put them on the ground for the later use. It would be nice if you could just press "E" to anvil or something, to automatically put something on it as well, in fixed positions will do! Gold coins could be used in a way like hiring new staff to mine and smelt ores, a bit "automation" management will do so that the player could just take the ingots to craft. Oh, could use some optimization and controls improvement as well.
Anyway, good entry!
Very enjoyable game. The visual component is great. Hot lighting. Veranda with mountain view. Mhmhmhm... The Forge of my dreams.
I don't know, maybe this is a little bit not the type of game that you meant, but I would like to see some optimization improvements for the store here. For example, apprentices who would carry ore for you or slaves who would turn factorio-like conveys))
That's a good idea! It would be a good use of gold, paying workers a salary etc.
Thanks for playing!
This is so addicting I LOVE IT. There's something really satisfying about moving around the space in physical way. The physics of everything you pick up. The weights of everything mattering. It was so fun. One of my favorites that I've played in the jam! I could play this for hours on end.
Thank you for your feedback! Thrilled that this is among your favourites for the jam!
Glad that the picking up objects with physics worked out, I always thought that there's something tactile about moving objects like that in games 😄
Nice art style! I appreciate the physics, but sometimes felt difficult to control. While mining, it would help to just be able to collect the ore instead of carrying it back and forth, especially with rocks farther away. Nice job overall!
Thank you for your feedback! You're right about all of this, polishing around the corners and dealing with these issues is much needed.
Really good game, the low poly art style was super cute. There were some bugs I think, like I gave an item to a customer while they were leaving and got the money but still got a complaint. I also crafted a shield on the anvil and it only consumed one of the ingots. Also a tutorial or at the least actually pausing when in the pause menu would be nice. But these are just small polishing problems that are expected with a jam game. The gameplay loop itself is super fun and addicting. Physically moving items around between storage areas and crafting benches was really charming, too. nice job :)
Thank you for playing and your feedback! :)
Polishing is much needed here for sure, but I am glad you felt the game was fun despite the bugs.
Interesting game. I liked the overall shop and atmosphere and the loop with the mining - there is some rythm to mining efficiently. The guide in the menu is needed, as there was some instructions on how things worked, but I needed the guide to figure how to make a shield. Maybe an annoying companion could explain things a bit at the start. The game looks and feels really amazing though, so kudos for that! Overall, I really liked it, I liked the touch on the complaints in the board when you don't get to a customer in time.
Thank you for your feedback and kind words!! I am glad the pause menu guide helped and was useful because it was put together kinnnnd of last minute 😬😅
This game... is quite interesting. I'll start with the positives: the sound design is immaculate, the game looks quite good as well, I can tell a lot of work went into making this look like an actual shop, and I really enjoyed the concept of running your own shop and doing everything. Unfortonately, I think that it is held back by a few design and gameplay choices. First of all, the game explains you everything in the pause menu, that doesn't actually pause the game which means that you have to learn the game while costumers are demanding items. I think that for a game this complex you'll need a tutorial or at the very least explanations while the game is paused. Because of this, in my first time playing the game, I didn't understand anything until I found that it was explained in the pause menu, and by the time I was done with that, I had already lost. Then in the second time, I knew everything so the first 10-15 minutes were quite easy, which meant that I spent most of the time waiting for costumers to show up. It did get more interesting after that when customers came in faster and started asking for more specific items, but then it felt like the difficulty jump was too high and I pretty quickly lost, and I don't really feel like waiting another 10-15 minutes just to experience the harder difficulty again. Secondly, picking up and placing ores on the anvil was quite annoying to get right, especially when it was necessart to get them exactly on the anvil, which the experience into frustrating more than anything. More compplaints are that you can't really do anything with the gold you get (like upgrading your gear) which makes it feels quite meaningless, and also going into the main pauses everything in the main game, which cancels any concept of difficulty in that part. I know I have criticized this game quite heavily, but that's only because I felt like a few small changes would have made it into one of the best games of this jam, but it ended up only being pretty good. Still a really solid job all around!
Thank you for your generous feedback! I appreciate you taking your time explaining and describing your experience in detail and providing well thought out helpful criticism. There are definitely things I'd improve if I was going to do this game jam again. I think getting someone to playtest earlier before the deadline would have helped me identify some of the issues surrounding it. Oh well, game jams are a great way to learn and get better and hopefully I'll be able to avoid making these mistakes you outlined in the future. Thanks again!
Really liked the gameplay loop, the graphics are also great and some actions like mining feel nice with all the sounds and effects. I would play for hours if it were a bit more polished. amazing project!
Thank you for the kind words! :)
I wanted to make mining a little bit more exciting than just holding the left mouse button so I'm glad that my experimentation of the mechanic felt good to use.
Interesting game. I like it very much
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Good job with modelling! Can tell a lot of work went into it. The game felt clunky though and it's kinda hard to guess what you're supposed to do exactly
Thank you for your feedback!
Very nice game! I could tell lots of work went into modeling everything :^)
I'll echo the other comments about the whacky item torque. It was also hard to place bars right onto the anvil to get items crafted (they kept falling off)
Overall, great submission!
Thank you! I am pleased with how the final product ended up looking :)
Yep, there is a theme in comments about the items and mechanics being finicky and at times annoying to deal with. It's a learning process getting everything feeling just right and hopefully I can go over the implementation again and change some things around to make it better :)
Ditto with some of the other comments about the movement. Some of the items in my hand, and in other spots too, can get some gnarly torque where they fling through the shop or mine. The mine was also really cumbersome getting one shard at a time to the cart - maybe they can be placed in a satchel or something?
Great job on your assets - the world looks great.
Thank you for your feedback and suggestion! I found a few people saying that the mine can be cumbersome, so a satchel is a great idea for future implementation. Controls and movement can definitely be polished too.
I was surprised with the quality of this game! Theres some problems with the movement and sometimes customers wont accept the requested item so i get complaints. But if this game was polished a bit more i could definitely see myself playing this game to kill an hour or so!
Thank you for your feedback! Sorry about the customers getting frustrated (retail work can suck lol). Definitely need to go over the game again with some polish :)
Wow, I was blown away by the aesthetics when I jumped in. I hope I can learn blender well enough to make such great models! The gameplay took a little bit of time to understand, so I think a little more work on a tutorial would be helpful. There are, of course, a few necessary tweaks in controls and fixing of bugs, but that's to be expected after making a game in a month!
Overall, I really like the gameplay! I also think theme of cliché really well because there are many games about collecting resources, crafting, and serving customers. Great work!
Thank you for your warm feedback! I am glad the aesthetical choices worked out in the end for this game. For sure there are aspects that can be tweaked and improved. Thanks again!
Movement is a bit sluggish, but had fun playing it! Wish you could force the next customer without waiting somehow.. Also, that’s one strong mouse xD
Thank you so much for playing and your feedback! A way to force a next customer is an excellent idea.
The mouse really wants that cheese.
I'm not much into simulation games, but this game is really fun.The graphics are really excellent.Very well done!
Thank you so much for playing! Glad you thought it was fun :)
