I love rhytm games and this one looks great. But the difference between easy and medium is insane. I think the biggest issue is the many fast paced notes. It seems like on easy there are just as many notes as on medium, but on easy you just spam one note very fast (repetitive) where medium wants you to switch like crazy between the very fast notes (realistic, but very hard).
I would also have put the down arrow as the lowest position, that way Up and Down are very easy to identify and you only have to "figure out" the left and right ones. With the current set up, only up was clear without having to think about it.
Overall, amazing game especially when you consider this is a jam game where there was just one month to make it all.
Thanks for playing and the kind words! :D
Yeah, we've had similar feedback regarding difficulty and arrow positions :) For the difficulty we're thinking of maybe introducing a practice mode that'll allow the player to adjust the playback of the track, this way they can get used to the note chart for each level (we've got another couple of ideas too, but they still need to be fully thought out). For the arrow positions I think we're going to look into allowing the player to customise the positions so everyone can organise them as they like :)
Thanks again!
Lovely painting style, interesting games
Thanks for playing! Glad to hear you enjoyed the game's aesthetic :)
I played through the entire game and it was great! I love how each level is its own cliché pun. Also my favorite part was how all of the levels played out like their own cutscenes. So much detail and fun ideas in there! The rhythm gameplay was fun, though my one complaint is that easy levels were a bit too simple and repetitive, but medium was a lot harder. Overall super cute and funny, one of my favorites I have played so far!
Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
Yeah, we've had some other feedback regarding the difficulty. I think post-jam we might look into seeing if we can add a training mode of some description, that'll allow players to practice the difficulties at customisable speeds e.g., you could play on normal difficulty, but half the speed of playback to help get a feel for how the note chart plays out.
Thanks again!
This was really cool! Great art and music. The only suggestion I would have would to be to have the arrows or (WASD) labelled on the corresponding circle. It seems like a bit of a silly suggestion but whenever I've played rhythm games that element always seems to have the arrow keys shown - and for some strange reason not having those made this harder for me when there was a lot of music notes on the screen. But take that with a grain of salt because I'm pretty bad at this type of game.
Thanks for playing and for the kind words! :D I think that suggestion makes a lot of sense :) We've had similar feedback regarding the targets, so they'll be something we'll look at revamping a little bit in the future after the jam (labelling them with their arrow would probably help a lot!)
wow, great work!
cute story, amazing background art, nice music , lots of content!
it's also nice seeing someone use the same theme as me lol.
just one thing
I think the length of the level is just a bit to long,
it makes it hard to concentrate for the entire duration of the track,
after trying out the hard difficulty my head exploded.
but it's a me problem, I just kinda suck at these games.
Thanks for the kind feedback :D We'll take what you've mentioned into account in future!
Yeah, we've played the game a lot through testing and hard makes our heads explode too haha
