Nice work!

Very stable for a browser-based FPS, but some of the gameplay elements could use a bit of work. One thing I had trouble with is attack range and damage feedback. I couldn't really tell how close I had to be to hit the enemies and I wasn't too sure if I got hit instead.

Solid music and death animations for the enemies though!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. As for damage - did you not notice the red vignette that appears when you got hit?

Submitted

I did notice that I did get a red vignette when I did get hit, but it was kinda hard to tell when I was about to get hit by an enemy and when I did get hit, it was difficult to tell why I got hit. Perhaps just telegraphing attacks more clearly or adding a more noticeable reaction to damage might have helped.

I enabled my GPU to work for my browser and I still got varying frame rates, and the game would lag because of it. I also had trouble in level 3 against the exploding bugs, and could barely jump out of the way. I don't know if it's from how large the blast radius is or because of the frame rate lag. Outside of that, I think that the game is pretty solid and enjoyable. The music is catchy, the mechanics are quick to grasp, and the death animations for the bees and ants made me snort. Good job!

Developer

What GPU do you have? Just curious.  Thank you for the great feedback. When testing the game I should have made it work better on lower frame rates. You can run from the exploding bugs to prevent them from going boom.

Great game, it was a bit laggy (on browser) and felt like the character was super slow at time.

Some indicators (popups or sounds) to let you know when the level is completed would be a great addition.

It’s enjoyable to see the new enemies as we progress!

Developer

Did you have hardware acceleration enabled? If not, it would be laggy.

The station turns green when a level is complete.

Thanks for the compliments on the enemies!

I enjoyed bashing the bugs with my legendary shake weight. Those death animations were hella cute. I think if this game was a bit more optimized, it would've been a much more enjoyable experience. Ya got your core idea pretty down. Oooh also maybe a variety of attacks would be cool. As much as I enjoy whackin, it does get pretty repetitive.

Developer

Indeed - with more time I could have added more weapons. I was thinking of adding electrical attacks and a ranged weapon but a month is only so long. What fps did the game run for you and what gpu do you have? Also - do you have hardware acceleration enabled?

Submitted

Nice game. It was a little hard to play in my browser - I could barely get above 15 fps even with the reflections turned off. I don't know why, but my favorite part is the nice touch when you hit the wall with your weapon.

Developer

So weird - people have had wildly inconsistent reports on the FPS of this game. I get 60+ FPS with max graphic settings with an M1 Mac. Did you not have hardware acceleration turned on, perhaps? Thanks for the compliment on the wall decal - I appreciate it.

Very nice web based FPS with cool destructable enemies and even performance settings! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I appreciate it.

I liked how the ants break apart when you smack them :) Overall the frame rate was good!

Developer

Thanks! Glad to know that the framerate was working for you - weird how inconsistent it's being tho.

great concept, felt almost toward stepping into n64 goldeneye with the FPS POV style. I did feel like I was almost on ice when moving and my Frame-rate would dip super low on multiple enemies but overall a good play!

Submitted

Hey nice game. I liked the first person POV and that the enemies lose limbs as you attack. That's a nice way of showing health instead of using a health bar ! Also, the music is nice. The movement is a bit slow and the game FPS really dipped when there were too many enemies. Maybe add a windows executable version of the game, that will fix the FPS issue.

Developer

Thank you very much!

The movement system could definitely use improvement - it needs to be faster without feeling slippery. Run-jumping is much fast than normal running.

Music is very nice - even though it's repetitive, it does work well with the game. I also like that graphics are kept in same manner for most of the game.

I made to the boss, but I must say, I had hard time killing it. Specially when queen was spawning those crabs, which I consider to be too OP. I also had really hard time avoiding/blocking those homing missiles - not sure if there is any way to block 100% damage from that.

I would maybe change the slow attack with the quick one (shift to use slow, quick as default), as I almost always took at least one hit from ant. Maybe increasing player's range would help that too.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for the compliment on the music and art style!

As for the boss, If you click levers in the boss room you regenerate health during the attack.

To nullify homing missiles - run them into the boss or other enemies or reflect them into the wall.

And as for the attacks - I originally had them switched, but the slow attack I found to be more useful against flying enemies and OHKO enemies (like the beetle and butterfly later on). Higher range could be a good idea though. Or maybe just keybinds so you can control the attacks.

Lovely game! I beat the queen :D There is a lot to love in this game: the enemy design is simple but oddly scary, details like legs getting chopped off, and last but not least, the Cobol hammer and the Pascaliber xD

The only complaint I have is that movement was a bit too slippery. But otherwise this is a solid A game for me!

Developer

Wow you really beat the boss! Glad you liked it. A few people have complained about the slippery movement will think of how to work on that next time (probs just adjusting friction parameters).

I had a lot of fun! Made it to level 5. The level designs are a bit repetitive, and the ends of levels (where you're pretty sure you've explored the entire level but you can't find the last few bugs/levers) can be a bit boring. It might have been better if different rooms have different colors or textures, so it's easier to distinguish between the corridors.

But the combat was very well-polished!

Developer

Thanks! The level designs are repetitive cause the levels are procedural. I do agree that if I was making this game again, some kind of minimap/enemy locator would be helpful to reduce tedium.

And if you can make it past level 5... there's a boss battle waiting for you :).

Very nice entry, the attacking feels a bit slow but there is a lot of attention to detail like the limbs getting chopped off and the terminal.

Developer (2 edits)

Awesome, thanks! Attacking is kinda slow because you are supposed to choose between a fast but weaker attack or a slow but longer-range and heavier attack.

Nice game :)

Thanks!
