Nice game and it feels so incredibly polished! The tutorial seemed a bit long but then the actual session had a nice balance and didn’t feel stretched out at all. I also loved the dramatic music at the end.

Good game that motivates me to optimize  my investments.  Good UI and Sound design, especially  the epic music on christmas eve.   Would have liked to see more stuff happening on the map while delivering. Maybe some spark effect when a gift got  delivered   or a  appropiate sound beeing played to encourage the player to get more gifts out and seeing/hearing   something happening as a reward.   Overall very well done!

Thanks for your suggestions, they're very helpful! :)

This felt like it was just a legit professional game already very well done not only all the detail in all the art but also all the scripting and the dialog all-around fantastic.

Thanks for your kind comments! :)

Really love this one! When I saw the bugs being pathed over roads it blew my mind! Just the right amount of decisions  for game length. As others have commented, the metrics view is a lot. The mouse over text was helpful, but I was still confused about red vs green arrows and the "+/-" values.

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks for playing! The +/- is to represent the standard deviation of the metrics (I couldn't get my font to display ± properly)

The green and red arrows show whether it's a good/bad thing for the day-to-day changes. For example, for some metrics (like time taken), it's better (green) if it goes down, while for others (like # gifts delivered), it's worse (red) if it goes down.

I'll think about how to make that clearer, thanks for your feedback!

When  I saw the thumbnail for the game in the discord server, I had a laugh for a bit since the idea is really funny. This is a really creative way of using the game's themes, and I had fun doing a few runs of the game! The tutorial was incredibly helpful, and I do like the use of a map to show where all the bugs are going, I found that neat. I genuinely wonder if there's some sort of algorithm for that or what kind of coding was used to calculate all the different times for the paths the bugs would take. All in all a fun game, and I kind of wish the game was a bit longer to get really into the groove of things. That or trying to hit a maximum gift deadline.

Yep, there is an underlying core simulator that runs with latitude-longitude, with routing from place to place following roads, and all that kinda stuff! :)

I'm planning to make a full(er) version with a campaign and more defined goals, so that will hopefully scratch your itch!

I found the game's theme itself very creative (would never think of Santa Claus hiring insects to do his job, haha). I found the metrics page a bit overwhelming, but that's more of a "me" problem, I'm not too familiar with simulator games 😅. One little problem I had was that when I clicked to close the last dialogue message to see the final results, it closed the results page too, returning to the start (I think the "close" button was on the same spot I clicked, behind the dialogue box).

Oh I see, yes thanks for finding that bug! I'll fix it in a future version!

The Santa part initially threw me off, but it was clever how you tied the bugs in! Tycoon-style games aren't my type, but the art made me enjoy it.

Developer

Thanks for playing! :)

Very nice game! The art, music, gameplay, everything was fitting for the theme! It was actually cool to play around with the different combinations of bugs with upgrades and stat upgrades in order to discover which choices to make or to not make in the next run. Good stuff!

Saw this one on the Discord channel and played it before everything was opened for ratings. Figured I needed to head back this way to give your game its proper due.  You've succeeded in packing a whole lot of cute into this game. Besides the quality aesthetic, you've packed a whole lot of management simulation into a game jam game! As others have mentioned, I found the tutorial very helpful and while I'm not a huge fan of the genre, I had a good time hiring my collection of bugs to help Santa in his time of need.  Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing it before ratings were opened, and then coming back to rate and comment! :)

Really polished, great little management sim.

Everyone loves the tutorial and I agree you need one for a game like this, but is there a skip tutorial button? Couldn’t find one if so - I think that’s an essential feature for replays.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes, there is a checkbox in the main menu to disable the tutorial. You can also change the random seed if you'd like!

Wow what a fun tycoon! Tutorial was super helpful, and I really like how players can take different strategies depending on the stats of available bugs. A great game overall!

Very polished game! Loved the graphics. It became addictive very quickly, and I especially loved being able to see the impact of your decisions as you watch the bugs carrying all the gifts around the map. Minor thing but I did wonder whether there is a more visual way of displaying the metrics data.
Awesome work, nicely done.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, having a visual way to represent the metrics would be great, I'll think more about it, thanks for the comment!

Very polished game, especially for a gamejam. It was fun trying to find the best strategy. Very interesting way to use the theme too, with the bugs being Santa's little helpers. Interesting Cookie is a cat and not also an insect.

Developer

My kid and I love cats, and we felt that Santa should have a cat too! And what better name than Cookie? :)

ah yes, the travelling bugman problem. :D

the game looks really polished, the gameplay itself is a bit flat

Thanks! :) The timing of the game bash worked well for the Christmas theme + bug! :)
