A game jam is an event where you create a game from scratch in a short period of time (like a weekend) based on a given theme. Themes are suggested and chosen by the community.

The theme is:

Shifting Shapes

Work alone or with a team (up to 5 members total) to make a small video game of any genre based on the given theme using any tools you want and submit before the deadline!

For this jam, themes will be suggested and voted on by the participants. The theme will be announced at the start of the jam on Friday on our Discord server and updated here. Theme voting will take place one day earlier. Once the theme is announced, participants can work on their game ideas for the next 48 hours.

Joining the Game Dev Linz Discord channel is highly recommended, as the theme and other important information will be announced there. If you don't know who to work with yet or are still looking for someone to complete your team, feel free to ask around there! You can also use it to share your progress and ideas and generally exchange with other developers. For your submission, having an account on itch.io is mandatory.

Rules:

Team size: Teams of up to 5 people allowed
Resources: The content (i.e. Art, Music, Sound, etc.) should be created within the time frame of the jam. You're free to use any game engine and start with any base code you may have. If you want to use 3rd party assets or assets you did not make during the jam, please state this in your project description, so the ranking can be adjusted.
Source code submission is optional but encouraged (e.g. link to git repository or hosted archive).
Ranking: Your games will be rated and ranked. Further details about rating are to be announced. You are encouraged to play other players' entries and give feedback on their work.
