It's time for a quick game jam to flex your game dev muscles!

The theme of this jam is...

10 SECONDS

...and your palette is...

The PICO-8 Palette

REMINDERS!

💡
Make your games accessible to players with a keyboard and a mouse/trackpad.
Don't use the numpad, or any mouse/trackpad buttons other than left click and right click.

💡
Only use material you have the rights to. You can find royalty-free art and sounds online.
Make sure to provide the proper attribution, depending on the license.

💡
Submit your game page early to secure your spot in the jam!
As always, be sure to upload your game to your page before the deadline.

💡
You can always update the page content and appearance at any time,
but try to do it before the deadline to make a great first impression for judging.

Who may enter?

Any Game Gen student or teacher may enter! You'll need an itch.io account to join and submit your entry.

If you need help with that, check out our itch.io lessons or ask a Game Gen teacher.

What may I submit?

You may submit games playable in the browser. Export them as either HTML5 or WebGL.

Your game must be created within the 24-hour period of the jam. Premade assets are acceptable.

How will the entries be judged?

Entries will be judged by the following:

  • GAMEPLAY (does the game feel complete and fun to play?)
  • ART DIRECTION (are the visuals pleasing and work well with the game?)
  • SOUND DESIGN (are the sounds pleasing and work well with the game?)
  • CREATIVITY (does it build on the theme and make good use of the palette?)
  • ORIGINALITY (have you not seen this kind of gameplay before?)
  • PRESENTATION (does the game page look professionally complete?)

An overall ranking is determined by these factors. Do your best to get high marks on all of these categories!

Who may vote?

Anyone may vote! Of course, you'll need an itch.io account to vote.

If you need help with that, check out our itch.io lessons or ask a Game Gen teacher.
