Simple and pretty fun. Straightforward gameplay mechanics, but still good enjoyment out of it! Level design was good, encouraged me to explore to extra areas to get coins/kill enemies. Sometimes the hitbox of enemies felt a little bit unfair, but only slightly, might just need some minor tweaking. Good game!

Thank you for playing my game and for your feedback! I'm glad you found it simple and fun to play. I put effort into creating straightforward gameplay mechanics that can still provide enjoyment. I'm also happy to hear that you liked the level design and the incentive to explore for coins and defeating enemies. Which level do you think is the best? Though it's just my opinion, I think level 3 is the best. I apologize if the hitboxes of the enemies felt slightly unfair at times. I will take note of your suggestion. Thank you again for your feedback, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game overall!

Fun Mario type game. The art was cute, the jump was great and the layout of the level was fun. My only suggestions would be to change the jump mapping and remove the "stickyness" you would get from walls and platforms. The Space Bar is almost always jump in games, so keeping something the same for your audience makes it easier to pick up and play. The "stickyness" causes the player to get stuck when jumping into them. If you create a physic material you can add it to the rigidbody, this will stop this from happening. Otherwise well done!

Thank you for playing my game and for your feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the art and the level design. I appreciate your suggestions about the jump mapping and the stickiness of the walls and platforms. I understand that using the space bar as jump key is a common convention in games, and I will add it in the future edit. I will also learn how to add a physics material to the rigidbody to prevent the stickiness issue. Thank you again for your helpful feedback!

This was pretty good. Definitely reminiscent of Mario but still great. I will say the hitboxes on some of the animals was pretty wonky at times and I was killed while not being touched by them. Otherwise, this was a fun game.

Developer

Thank you for playing my game and useful feedback. The problem you are pointing out may be collision problems. I'll definitely try to figure it out. I'm also working on the things that other people suggested. Thanks again for playing and providing feedback!

The title certainly caught my interest.

This game is alright, but there are some things I would like to see get tweaked to make things less frustrating. I would've liked mid-stage checkpoints, I'd appreciate if the falling platforms respawned after a few seconds, and I think adding "coyote time" (look it up if you don't know what that means) would've made certain jumps more manageable.

Thank you for playing my game and providing feedback. I'm glad that the title caught your interest. I appreciate your suggestions to make the game less frustrating. I will definitely look into adding mid-stage checkpoints. Currently I'm working on adding lives for player.  I'll also try to update that falling platforms issue because other people are also pointing out. To be honest, I don't exactly know what coyote time is. So, I'll try to figure it out, too. I'm not sure it's okay to upload edited project during the voting period, so, I'll upload the project that contains new features later after the jam is completely finished. Thanks again for playing and sharing your thoughts!

While kind of simple, as a retro gamer I liked the graphic style. As some other suggested, small things like flipping the player when moving in opposite direction would do much for the feel. Good work on a first game!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the retro graphic style. I made the art assets with Procreate. Actually, I've fixed that player flipping issue. I'll upload the edited one soon. Thanks again for playing and providing your thoughts!

Cool. This is my second jam :D. clean gameplay with clean graphics. Only one suggestion i will give to flip the player sprite when moving backward, just simply scale (1) on the x axis to (-1) (negative direction) ☺

Developer(+1)

Thank you for trying out my game and providing feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the gameplay and graphics. Your suggestion of flipping the player sprite when moving backward is a great idea and it's actually something I've been considering adding to the game. I'll definitely make sure to implement this feature in a future update. Thanks again for playing and providing valuable feedback!

Got stuck in the 3rd level, and I failed at the falling platforms. I'd suggest respawning them after a few seconds. Fixes are allowed in this jam!

It was a nice platformer, obviously inspired by Mario saga. Collisions are broken as well.

Developer

Thank you for playing my game and for taking the time to provide feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you got stuck on the 3rd level and had trouble with the falling platforms. I'll definitely take your suggestion into consideration for future updates. I'm also aware of the collision issues and will figure out how to improve them. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will help me improve the game. Thanks again for playing and for your constructive feedback!

Good entry for a first time Game Jammer! The Controls work fairly well, as well as all the other game mechanics. The pixel art is also looking great - you say, you downloaded fonts and audio, so I expect you created the game art yourself?

Some feedback for improvements:

  • The colliders behave strange, when the character is on its upwards phase (it sticks to platforms)
  • Having more than 1 live would be great
  • The character not flipping when  moving backwards irritated me more than once
  • The height of the jump felt to big

Keep up your webdev journey, this is a great start!

Great to hear your positive feedback on my first game jam entry! I'm glad you found the controls and game mechanics to be working well. Yes, I created the pixel art myself with the application called Procreate.

I didn’t know the character sticks on the platform. Will you please elaborate? I’ll definitely consider adding more lives to the game. I'll also work on improving the character's movement when moving backwards and adjust the jump height to make it feel more natural.

I appreciate your encouragement and I'll definitely keep working on my game development skills! Thanks for taking the time to play and provide feedback.

This is pretty good for your first released game. Graphics are great, gameplay is fun despite being simple. That being said, I feel like there could be some improvements such as making the player flip when turning, adding coyote time, adding variable jump height, and some music and more SFX would also be nice.

Thank you so much for playing and providing feedback on my game! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the graphics and gameplay. I appreciate your suggestions for improving the game mechanics such as adding player flip when turning, coyote time, and variable jump height. I also agree that music and more sound effects would enhance the overall experience. As a beginner game dev, I'm always looking for ways to improve my skills and create better games, so your feedback is really valuable to me. Thank you again for taking the time to play my game and share your thoughts!
