An amazingly fun game you got here. As well as some fun concepts all throughout the experience, although I feel not all are equal, but a VERY great attempt.
I don't really think there's anything here in NEED of polishing in terms of the overall package, since there's quite a lot here, but I do find that the "horror" level was about 1 or 2 pages too many.
All in all, great job.
It was fun. I got stuck taking down the beehive. I feel like the gun position on the screen was a little awkward, but even so wasn't too hard to aim. I liked all the voice acting. I think adding a reload animation would help the game feel a lot. Not knowing how much longer it's going to take before it's reloaded can be a disadvantage. Overall it was fun to play through the levels.
This game is just really enjoyable. It honestly just went off the rails, I didn't expect to see a lot of the bounties in this game, I especially like the Slender homage, although the pages are a bit hard to find and sliding all the time can get pretty tiring. I like the crazy amounts of recoil, especially in the space level. Also I noticed that 'Town with No Name' homage in the credits, it's pretty funny! Overall it's just an enjoyable, funny game that successfully achieves what it aims for.
Pretty good fun, I love a good shooter! Fun varied bounties to collect, each with their own unique elements that added some good variety to gameplay. I also loved your sense of humor, really funny narrative throughout! If I'd suggest anything (other than some small QoL improvements to shooting) I'd recommend toning down the difficulty of the last level. Since it's such a drastic change of pace from the rest of the game, it helps to give the player a bit of breathing room after putting them into a new environment like that.
This was pretty fun! I liked the sense of speed the slide gave off, coupled with jumping and sliding immediately afterward to get just a tiny bit extra speed in there as well (not sure if that was intentional or not but I definitely used it to go one or two places I shouldn't have lol). The bounties were all interesting, though I do think a couple of the later enemies were a bit too bullet spongey, and I had a bit of trouble with the last one trying to find all the required items, though that's also very likely me just getting lost. Overall, not too shabby, I rate 5 YOUs/5
I'm really glad you liked the movement. That actually was intentional, but I did not manage to fully take advantage of the idea. This game was mainly made for me to have fun and do things I have never done before, which is why the last few levels are drastically different in style.
That was fun! Sliding up and unloading the gun was really fun cool. Blood & gun smoke particles were a really nice touch too. Also, only game I've seen with voice acting so far!
Could nice to haves / feedback - Would prefer to swap weapons over dropping them. Gun face isn't ideal, perhaps move the gun to a more natural side position, then bring it up for aiming down sight? Pacing could have been a bit tighter, walking from wagon to main spawn area or trying to find the last bandit slowed it down a bit.
Overall, great game!
Thank you for the feedback. These are things I definitely wanted to add, but I got caught up with everything else. I hope to continue this game concept and expand on it while also adding polish like that.
Also , voice acting was one of the first things I wanted to have when I was brainstorming this game at the start of the jam. So glad I was able to implement it.
Rootin' tootin' shootin' fun - even though I never did manage to get past the giant beehive level!
I was especially fond of the sliding mechanic. It would've been nice to have an option to display subtitles, maybe also controls for manually reloading your gun.
you can reload your gun with R. sorry if i forgot to put that on the sign. The beehive can be tricky, but if you ever wanna try it again, remember to focus on the hive. The bandits in this one are not the priority and you probably wont win against them.
As for subtitles, yeah I wish I had more time. I didn't fully pursue it as only 2 characters are voiced aside from the "You" of the bandits. But I would like to either add it in an update or to my next project. This game was my first time doing almost every mechanic featured, so I'm happy you at least had some fun.
Ah I see! I'll give the level another shot.
Can I also say that I LOVE the tiny train as a stand-in for horses. :)
Are there any more easter eggs in the game? btw as you can see the resolution of this screenshot is not 16:9 it doesn't fit on my screen :( btw Nice ending I saw it today...
Yes, there are several easter eggs to my other projects and some inside jokes that I simply added for fun. One easter egg is that there is a hidden Shia La'Block (the name of that block thing that chases you in the poster level) in every scene. This includes the sheriff office, game over screen, credits, main menu, ending, and every level (including the retro game level, but that one is hard to find)
I'm sorry you are having screen issues still. I tried looking into this but came up short. None of my playtesters reported this bug. For them, it was 16:9 and I haven't received any other reports of it being too wide. However, I usually make games for webgl, so it is likely I simply messed something up with this one. Hopefully I can replicate it and fix it after the jam.
Regrettably I couldn't get past the posters level because my left control key doesn't work, but from what I played, it's a solid shooter with some pretty funny moments. I mean, who'd say no to gunning down a giant beehive with Hall of the Mountain King playing in the background?
YOU YOU YOU YOU.....
by far the best voice acting of my life lol
WOW. This was the game that just kept on giving, the humor really drew me through the entire thing. I thought I was only going to be in it for an fps, but I was in for so much more. Thank you so much for making this. It was a blast!
Love the bees. Very funny.
Great Concept but the resolution doesn't fit on my screen the game is too much in width...
Do you mind telling my you monitor size? I chose to make the game the standard 1080 x 1920 (16:9) as I unfortunately did not have time to account for all other screen sizes. Most playtests did not seem to have this issue.
my monitor is also 1080p but still it wasn't fitting well. I think it's a bug...
sorry to hear that. I did not encounter this issue during any playtesting. So not sure why this happened for you. I will say the game is not full screen, so it can be moved around a bit until it fits snuggly in the center of the screen.
If you want, I can also try to export a smaller screen size version for you. If not, that's okay, I appreciate you trying it.
YOU. You're that Bounty Hunter.
