Definitively getting that arcade vibe. Besides SFX I would make the ship interpolate a bit between mouse positions so you can't SUPER fast. Also make sure to despawn your bullets when they go offscreen so you can't cheese it (I did).

Yes. Nostalgia :) I got reminded of a few games I played around 2000s. This is the first time I'm hearing about the R-type history. One thing I would add is sound effects for bullets. It would have been so addictive if I heard the gun shots. Enjoyed. Great work (y)
